Character Notes

Sofi is a world class athlete and she knows it. As a child she was groomed as a Russian Olympic trick rider, and competed twice. She got bronze the first time, which made her unhappy. The second time she got silver, and she was slightly more pleased – but only slightly. Her third tour was going for gold, but she tore a ligament in her leg weeks before the plane left. She lost her entire career then at age 22.

Sofi came from a prominent and wealthy Russian family. Her parents weren’t necessarily disappointed in their daughter’s retirement, but the focus of the family’s efforts shifted into supporting her brother’s equestrian pursuits. Sofi was a natural born cut-throat competitor, so being benched from gymnastics made her very bitter. Once her leg healed, she tried to re-enter the arena but it was clear she no longer was at the top of her game.

She found an opportunity to thrive in America with the traveling Cavalia show, figuring that even when she was no longer top level she could be a star among Americans in all her interests. Still struggling to overcome her feelings of inadequacy as well as her strained ligament, she was presented with the opportunity to Dusana bond. Over the course of the next few years, she would train the spunky colt that she'd name Koshmarik, launching her into a new level of horsemanship she had never thought possible. She'd eventually leave Cavalia to expand her skills as an expert equestrian for Hollywood as a stunt trainer.

It was in the film business that she met Cam Westwood , a handsome up-and-coming Hollywood star and her soon to be on and off boyfriend. Cam met her on the set of the niche detective drama he was starring in that required a horse for a few scenes, but he was on thin ice in the production because of his thinly veiled alcoholism. He was too important a member of the cast to simply fire, so it was decided he go through rehab with a newly developed program: Dusana bonding. The two see a lot of each other these days, and one minute their sweet and the next sour. Cam just signed a deal for a new series in which his new Dusana is also a character, and Sofiya is now his personal riding instructor.

In between her time on set, she is at RSD teaching top level Dressage. She is not an easy instructor to get along with, but the rewards are well worth the effort.
