So I got totally bored on Sunday night and I had this drawing ([link] ) printed out on some nice cardstock from a while ago and I decided to give my watercolours a go.
I'm pretty ok with how it went. I mean, Checke's body is way way too darkly coloured and um...did anyone else notice that her staff is upside down? I totally didn't realize that until last night when I was working on one of her wings and I squinted and looked and said, "aw damn..." because the cross is actually right side up, not upside down like it should be...Fuuuuu manchu.
But the colours are halfway decent, no? The background is hawt, I love those blue and green hues. Used salt on it too, make it all kinds of speckly, yes.
I gotta show this to Max, see what he thinks of my watercolour skills.
Alright, so I cheated a bit. I used a Verithin black pencil to darken up some parts but that was because I was getting annoyed at all the layering I was doing. It's like one of my teachers said to me the other week, "Lauren, if you still like a piece of art from a month ago, it means you haven't improved your skill a single bit. You know why? Because if you're still ok with how you did it, then that means you haven't made any progress with your abilities and you should push yourself even harder."
It makes sense to meeeee... O.O So, I guess I like it yeah, but I know if I redid it, it'd be so much better.

Even though you say there are mistakes. It is still beautiful, and I love it! Barbed wire adds a nice touch and I love the background colors, goes lovely with her hair color.

A well deserved "You're welcome!" You earned it big time! I hope I can do fluid and sexy pics of my own characters like you did here at some point. A real challange to me... I have to figure out how to make my male characters look sexy to me... if I can't do that, it would be hard to make them so to you, or anyone else...

Really though, i do. and the actual drawing, too. awesome pose and anatomy, home slice.

Beautiful work. I really like the hair and the fur, not to mention the wings. The spatters really work.
