So this is how a critique thingie works. Cool and interesting.
I agree with most of what you said and squinting to see the values, I can see why that rim light may have seemed necessary to use on the hair of the redhead: to help separate the value of the blue loincloth to the red hair but that can be done with either lightening or darkening one or the other and eliminating that rim light which doesn't quite seem right given the other lighting in the scene.
Nice critique.

Thanks to you for accepting it... After seeing how many favs your piece received I was fearing you might find my critique too hard.

well i felt the rating on originality was a little too low, but that is a matter of opinion, no reason to call that unfair, though.

thats because the characters were not based off of anything, i.e. "original" :/
you cant say it's not original because fantasy is a common genre of art. yes i'd say you definitely misunderstood.

Sure looked fabulous scaled down, but at the original size, it's not as 'detailed' as I thought it would be.
Also, can't help but feel that the guy has a chunk of meat missing from where the thigh meets the waist.
Also, the guy should have more defining tones. On closer inspection, his body looks fused together because it lacks the darkest shades/shadows found in the creases. Unless he's somehow glowing, the darkest line you would find in the environment/bg should also be present on your focus subjects. In short, I know this is a digital painting, but that doesn't mean you're not allowed to use a little bit of outlining here and there. I also understand it's a collab and God knows these things are hard to get finished... but yeah... check out the guy basically looks like he got left out last and the girls got all the details.
Overall, I think the best part of this painting is the environment, mainly because the characters don't seem to fit into the environment quite as well as they should, despite the really good job you guys did with the lighting. There's just something about them that makes them 'alienated' to the bg art.
Again, I congratulate you both on the collab because collabs are not easy things to do. There'll always be times when you might not want to point something (or several things) out to the point of it becoming solely your style/piece and less of the other artists'. Finding the balance of both worlds can be quite difficult, unless one if working purely the BG and the other is doing the characters.

Would be nice to see the guy have a see-thru piece of cloth around his waist, not just the girl.

he would need more heavy duty cloth to defend.

but then wouldn't she need something thicker too? for protection from the environment? or even from bugs or something?.. i just don't see how a see-thru cloths can protect much.. she doesn't even have to have anything on then. lol.. like i know it's only an artwork and not a movie but still.. it would just be nice to see men and women equally in artworks sometimes.. not many people deliver that though, women are always portrayed naked or close to it while guys always have clothes on, I don't see why women should always be portrayed like some sexual creatures. I'm not trying to raise an argument though.. just sort of writing what I think that's all. I do like the skills you have though, the colours are really beautiful.

well when we were doing this picture and i painted her, i kind of thought of her as royalty of sorts, and the guy being her guard.
and actually, i am a woman and i dont mind painting naked females, but i'm just not interested in painting a detailed penis. maybe that has something to do with why you dont usually see it.

Hey, I'm a guy and I don't find it entirely 'interesting' painting detailed penis's either.
Then again, I hardly even draw guys... much less nekkid ones (although been contemplating it for so long to appease teh female viewers...) XD
