Description As anyone who's been around my gallery for any length of time can tell you, I am in love with the Ocarina of Time. So, in honor of the 3DS release, (ignoring the fact that I don't have a 3DS) I am (maybe) going to draw a random OoT scene everyday up to its American release date, the 19th.

Ugh. It's totally not done, and frankly I don't think I'll ever go back and finish it. Sorry nameless soldier guy.
I dunno, I just had a really hard time working today. But I managed to try a very small bit of that cell-shading shindig, because it just would have looked even less finished with naught but the flats. There should also be more sunlight on that side of the alley, but it just wasn't going to happen.

So this is a scene that I completely missed the first time I played through. Actually I probably saw it on my original N64 file, but long after I had beaten the game. If you're like me, and ran straight to the Temple of Time after getting the Ocarina of Time, you probably didn't see it either. If you go 'round the Back Alley, you will find a soldier, slumped against a wall. (For the record, it's harder to make a man look crumpled when he's got a metal plate over his waist.) When you speak to him, he tells you what went down at the castle when Ganondorf attacked and that Princess Zelda tasked him with telling you to get to the Temple of Time or something like that... pretty unnecessary since she left a psychic message in the Ocarina, but hey. Anyway, having relayed this message... he dies. If you try to speak to him afterwards, Navi says, "He's not moving anymore..."
Buuuut, now he will be remembered forever in a piece of fan art. Bully for him.

EDIT: I just remembered two things: 1. I was going to color his lips because the guard models have very obvious lips.. SO obvious in fact that I used to think they were mustaches until I took a closer look, and 2. I was going to include a nice blood smear from him sliding down the wall. I mean.. he's dying, right? Evidence that he was wounded and kept going until he didn't even have the strength to stand leaning against a wall? Drama and heroism +3.

Do you think that you'll ever finish this piece? It's really good.

This is truly jawdropping when you encounter this in the game itself. I still remember the first time I saw this when playing on my N64 Oot. Ireally wonder what actually happened at Hyrule Castle, especially when it comes to Princess Zelda.

Yeah, that would be a cool cutscene... someone should do a fan-made one XD

I am now and then working at a fanfiction of my own version (kinda) of Oot where I also try to tell alot about Zelda too, like this possible cutscene we just talked about. I am recently and still remaking my Oot fanfic and haven't gotten to this part yet, but I do have an image in my head. And this image I am defenitaly to make an artwork of sometime in the future. ^_^XD

OH MY GOSH IT'S MY OTHER FAVORITE SCENE!

Ohohhhhohhhhh this poor solider man! Even unfinished, it's so nice to see him get some love.

Also I totally love that you remembered the detail of including Link's Goron bracelet!! Gwah, your details just make me so happy. As does hearing reading the word bully. Ya just never see it used in that connotation.

Argh. Love this guy. Oh the look on his face....

Thanks for feeding my drama-fix for the day.

Oh, bully. I picked it up when I was in a play some years ago where one of the characters used it a lot. I don't actually use it in the real world, but it just seemed right at the time XD

You're very welcome.

NOOO DON'T DIE! Ahhh, I found this guy on my first playthrough (N64), because I absolutely have to explore everywhere and stock up before committing to anything.... this moment really stuck with me because it's so sad....

Such a nice little touch, it's all the better because Nintendo put it in and yet virtually no one knows about him....

I love stuff like that ^_^ I'm replaying Skyward Sword now and found a little unimportant cutscene that I missed the first time around, so it's nice to know they still do things like this.

Oh yes. Skyward Sword is actually chock-full of them. Try sitting down on seats whenever you get the chance! You won't regret it!

Yes! That too! First playthrough it took me until the pirate ship to realize I could sit down to regain health, so I hadn't really bothered with chairs until that point. Silly me...

Its really sad how he dies. Not many know of this part since they never bother to look be hide the market before entering the temple of time.
