So not to be outdone by the West Coast team's ability to implode with drama, the East Coast branch says "hold my beer..."⁣

Namor's bride, Marrina had some weird pregnancy mutation and turned into a gigantic sea monster that threatens the entire Eastern Seaboard. We've all seen that old chestnut before, right?⁣

Trying desperately to stop her Monica Rambeau, Captain Marvel, almost destroys herself trying to blast the now leviathan-sized Marrina. Monica disappears at first, leaving the team without a leader (but later shows up again desiccated and near death, as if she had been drained).⁣

Namor, having to make a terrible choice, takes Black Knight's magic Ebony Blade that can cut through anything (made by Merlin...guy shoulda made ginsu knives) and slays his pregnant wife. Oof. That's rough. He quits the team to go be super sad underwater now. Can you blame him?⁣

Problem solved? No. Turns out the Ebony Blade used to have a blood curse that slowly drove it user mad. Dane Whitman, the modern day Black Knight though he removed the curse. But apparently having it stab a giant sea snake lady brought it back. He began to harden and get immobile, and needed an exoskeleton to move. Man, armor on armor...that's a "hat on a hat," right?⁣
