Hmmm I've been so frustratingly lazy this month haha, I've got heaps of WIPs and doodles (maybe I will post in scraps later) but nothing really worthy of submitting. I really pushed myself to 'complete' something today so here it is~You can make sense of this how you wish. She's a unicorn deer (?)
I was going to put obols (ancient greek coins) on her eyes as a symbol of death but they ended up looking like sunglasses hehe;;;; not really what I was going for

I see... Sadness...fear...death and destruction... I see anger.. I see beauty, I see pain behind longing eyes.... Most of all I see the want to be loved as she looks upon a child in pain and has pity for her.... I see ultimate sadness and pain...

What a great interpretation piece. I cannot help but see the classic Greek dryad, spirit of the tree, mediating between the two very different life forms of human and tree, lamenting that the tree is destroyed so out of hand whilst being a living creature itself, one 'on the inside' human of its own right.

I most definitely had the dryad in mind when I added the tree patterns to her skin! Thank you for sharing your interpretation. Creating that bridge between human and nature certainly makes the issue more relatable. I appreciate your lovely comment

This make me think of the contrasted beauty and destruction of anorexia, with the red chord around her throat which is a pro-ana symbol. It ties in well with deforestation and destruction of the earth because as we destroy on a global level we also, as a society, encourage personal destruction in the form of image disorders thanks to mass media. No matter how hard we try it can seem hopeless, as these complimentary issues have snowballed out of control and that loss is present on her face.

Wow, this pro-ana symbol is new information to me actually, I might look into it some more. I'm very pleased to hear that you tied in social commentary to the more obvious environmental issue. I think it's really important for people to relate the destruction of the earth to something human.
