I dunno how many tmes music has been the only thing in the world that helped me get through shit times. I used to spend long lonely days sitting alone just listening to my discman - which pretty much looked exactly like the one in the picture. This came from that I suppose. Even though I don't have any music player anymore, listening to the sounds of the city can be kinda relaxing too and whlie the music helped a lot it also alienated and isolated me even more from the world around me... I think you would succeed greatly with a "comic, i prefer to say an illustrated story better though. I've been looking through your gallery, amazed. While admiring your work, I can tell that you definitely have a way with words. The alcohol isn't such a good thing to be in your system so much, but perhaps the literal influences it has on your work is what gives you such an edge... It's very unique.
p.s. reading the songs that you listed (im familiar with many like glassjaw. bright eyes, & u will know us by the trail of dead

Too be honest, I listen to my mp3 player all the time with the volume pumped up because I want to alienate myself from the rest of the world. People just anger me too much sometimes. I have a really weird way of seeing things, I guess.

That's exactly how I used to be. I didn't want to deal with all the shit that went on so I drowned myself in music for a good couple years. I totally understand how that is and that's what was on my mind when I drew it... I never spoke to people or anything. I'm glad you get how it is.

Yeah, music means way too much to me. Though I dont really like those bands - you should try listening to some Bright Eyes, Cursive, The Used, Finch or Eisley. They're some really good indie/punk/emo bands, they get me through the hard times.

oh yes, the used! they are awesome live. i've followed finch but never got to c them in concert. i'll check out the others...i'm sure i have a track by some of them somewhere on the computer.

The realism of this picture is breath taking. You have captured what looks like sorrow upon the characters face and even the walls look mournful. It looks as if the character has given up on people and just drowned itself in the calming natures of music (even if it is rock music or something like that, music always relaxes me). Great job.

Heh, yeah I actually looked at that part of the pencils when I was inking it and thought real hard whether I should follow that jerked line or just make it smooth.... I chose the former, thought it'd work better, it probably didn't.
