I'm giving three stars because there are many horses running around in a little pond. dont feel too bad about that one. xD

the horse is a little too-smudged on this one, I would reduce it a little because the background looks realistic while the horse is all dreamy and smooth, so yep.
The mane and tail have great shapes, but they seem drawn. the ends on the mane/tail seem drawn, i guess? I would just add more flyaways and try to improve realism by using the shape of the mane/tail before.

I love this deviation. But yes I do have some constructive criticism.
~One. So the horse first. During layering, it just looks... a bit... uhm... drawn. It looks kinda separate from the background. The mane and tail and forelock are beautifully drawn, suites colour wise and motion wise, but don't look thaaat lifelike. They appear as more the work of a paintbrush. Mainly the tail though.
~Two... I see like a little white - yellow line surrounding the horse... it kinda spoils it.
I hope you take no offence to this critique, I hope you get something useful out of it!

The thing that stood out to me is the mane, tail and forelock. I thought the colours you had chosen could be lighter, that might go with the horse stock better than the reddish colour. The tail sees to be in an unusual shape, it should be flying behind the horse but it seems stiff. At the top of the mane, it's like a part has been erased and is too straight. The hair lacks flyaway strands, so if you added them in, it would make it much better. I would also suggest burning and dodging in some parts to create more depth. e.deviantart.net/emoticons/g/g… " width="17" height="15" alt="
Some of the areas on the horse, like the face have been smudged too much and the outline should only be drawn in places when the sun hits the horse. The splashes look a little fake and I know it is very hard to create realistic splashes. I would recommend frostbo's splash stock images. There should also be small wavelets around the splashes. The reflection is realistic, but I think you should motion blur it slightly because of the movement of the horse.
The blur is good, however blurred a little too much and near the back leg, closest to you us a small area that is unblurred.
