Ulchi are a Tungus-Manchu people living in nine villages
in the lower reaches of the Amur River in Ulchi District of the Khabarovsk Krai.
Under Russian control since the middle of the 19th century, they speak Ulchi language of the Tungus-Manchu
group of the Altai family and practice Eastern Orthodoxy and Shamanism.
There are now 2.720 Ulchis, more then 90% of them in the Ulchi District of Khabarovsk Krai.
