Guiding Light [ Supportive ] - Izayoi releases guides from its chime in the form of glowing, baby rabbits that will lead the user to the nearest Shadows. If there are 2 Shadows in the area, then 2 rabbits will be released at once (up to a total number of 3). These guides can only appear for 10 seconds, after that they will poof and have to be summoned again. They will race towards the Shadows in top speed, hence user will need to keep up with them before they dash out of sight. If they are released when there is no Shadows in the area, they will simply sit around and do nothing.
Safeguard [ Defensive ] - At the cost of 10% of Tomoyuki’s HP, a concave barrier is erected to block out most attacks other than the strongest ones (ultimate skills), the curved surface will cause magic attack (eg:fire, wind, anything that doesn’t have a defined shape) to slide off harmlessly. Barrier is as tall as Tomoyuki and immobile, looking like a massive contact lens being stuck into the ground, hence it can’t be moved around to shield against attacks coming from different directions. Barrier can last up to 5 seconds against regular and weak attacks, or a shatter in a heartbeat against strong ones (likely will deal some damage on him since that means the attack is far stronger than his defense). The duration will also be shorter depending on the frequency of the attacks. Tomoyuki can also order Izayoi to create the barrier for someone else, however with no reduction to his HP. This is a little quirk to encourage him to help others instead of constantly thinking about himself.

Ever since he was a child, Tomoyuki has been particularly sensitive towards the mood of others. Often times able to pick up right off the bat that something was wrong even though he doesn’t always know the cause of it. Able to read it and behave accordingly, the kind who shed tears when he saw a puppy being bullied. Some called that a gift, kindness, but to him it was more like a curse, especially when he didn’t know what to do to cheer up a depressed person.
Tomoyuki tends to think in depth of the consequences his choices can bring, causing him to be slow in reacting and decision making. Often times his thoughts will go too far, over-thinking a small matter and end up being upset about all the ‘what if’s. Because of this he had been called ‘womanly’ several times. This mostly applies to his interaction with other people and anything that comes close to heart, other than that he can be rather proactive in getting something done. He stands strong in the face of physical danger thanks to his rational mind.
Due to being transferred from town to town, family to family, one school to another, he has grown tired of trying to bond with new people. It wasn’t something he was good with in the first place, before his parents’ death. Awkward with people interaction, he had trouble judging how far he could go before he breached someone’s privacy. Even when he wanted to offer help, he will worry if his aid will be a nuisance.
The frequent moving and a lack of a ‘solid’ home have caused insecurity to grow in him. While he often pretends otherwise, and seemingly have given up on it, the boy actually seeks something or somewhere that could be a constant for him. Not necessarily a house, it can be other places, or even friendship. Anything that could make him feel safe and belonged. And yet he doesn’t put much effort into making new friends now. Besides, he finds it faster and less complicated to do things on his own, making him a poor team player.
Likes:
+ Antique
+ Being with friends (though he doesn’t have many)
+ Making handcrafts (wood carving, pottery, etc. Doesn’t mean he’s good in them, he just loves to work with his hands)
+ Somewhere quiet where he can be on his own, relaxing
+ Harvest Moon
Dislikes:
- The ‘trend’ / ‘fashionable’ thing / the ‘in’ thing
- Abruptness / bad surprises
- His plans / routine being broken (he absolutely hates that)
- Snowy days, especially when it snows heavily
- Being called ‘Tomo-chan’
▌H I S T O R Y
TLDR: Ever since losing his parents at 10, Tomoyuki have been transferred from one relative/foster family to another, met various kinds of people. The lack of a solid, permanent home have made him feel that forming any new bond with others was a waste of time since all these families were temporary anyway. Telling himself that he could just fine on his own. Eventually he moved into Kanagawa with a nice couple, perhaps he would need a long time before he would open up to them.
Tomoyuki was only 10 when his parents had to make the long car trip back to hometown to attend a friend of his mother's wedding. He was left with their neighbor since they didn't want him to skip school the following day. But his parents didn't make it to the wedding, nor did they come back. It was snowing heavily that night.
At the funeral, Tomoyuki have heard how his father was pitiful, how he would have led a better, longer life if he didn't marry that woman. It shocked the child to learn that there was so much disdain for his loving mother coming from his father side of the family, he didn't know what is 'call girl' or 'b*tch' but apparently that was what his mother was and she tricked his father into marrying her. All Tomoyuki knew was that his mother worked in an old fashioned grocery store that sold candies in paper wrappers, shaved ice, and simple toys made out of wood and papers that he loved.
After that, it was hard to find a relative that would take the boy in due to his background, plus his family rarely have any contact with them other than during the important occasions. When they finally found a new home for him, it was with his father's sister and her family. They obviously disliked him, treating him like some sort of diseased child that would infect their precious children. They also made it clear that he had a roof above his head because his parents left behind quite a nice sum of money and a big house. They could use the money to raise Tomoyuki, but unable to touch the house until the boy has come of age. So they would tolerate him until the time comes, but the two children didn't cooperate at all. They took every chance to make Tomoyuki feel unwelcome. One of them was in the same school as Tomoyuki and decided to make his school life a hell as well. Worse was when the parents did nothing to stop them, if the boy fought back he would be punished. After two years Tomoyuki couldn't take it anymore and retaliated, going against the family just for the sake of it. Sure enough, he was beaten up, even grounded in his tiny room for days. One day he had an open cut on his arm, made by his aunty who accidentally cut him out of anger. He made the bandaging as eye catching as he could so that his teachers would ask him about it, and he told them how he was abused but his relatives. With all the scars and bruises as proof, police report was made and soon enough, Tomoyuki was removed from the family.
He stayed in the facility for a while until they found him a foster family. Married couple with one child. Decent folks. But Tomoyuki still held grudges against his relatives and thus clashed a lot with his foster parents. Seemed like no matter what he did it all went against their will and preference even though he didn't intend it. He even rejected having talks with them to solve the issues, thinking that they would never understand him and never really want him in the family anyway. And thus he was returned to the facility again after a few months, his foster parents had no idea how to handle him.
His next foster parents were nice to him, took the effort to understand him, be patient with his tantrums. After a year Tomoyuki slowly opened up to them. But when economy crisis hit the family, it was a choice between him and their daughter. The decision was obvious. By then Tomoyuki understood one thing: He would never have a place call home. But that was fine. He didn't need that, just a few more years and he would live on his own.
At age 15 he was left with searching for a new home, and was taken in by a married couple that had no kids. He held no particular feelings towards them, thinking that this would just be another house for him to sleep in until he could be independent. They were kind and simple folks, slow paced. Even let Tomoyuki get familiar with the little town of Kanagawa first before enrolling him into Kaisei Academy that was a walking distance from their house. It didn't help much with opening him up but at the very least he got to do things at his own pace. All these switching from one family to another have caused him to be held back by one academic year due to terrible results, and hence he was a year older than his classmates.
On a particularly cold winter night, Tomoyuki tidied up what little belongings he had and found a tin box which was once used to store Valentine's chocolates. Now it held his childhood memories. His toys, old candy wrappers that he collected, photos of his parents, and what not. It was the first time he opened it ever since the day he left his home. Looking at the photos somehow gave him a feeling that these weren't his. Was he leading this kind of life? It felt alien, distant. As if each time he moved into a new family, he lost a little of his true one. The warmth and happiness from that time, he could hardly recall them now...

With introduction out of the way, he followed the group eagerly into the woods. Upon hearing some squeaky noises, he looked around for a familiar one— then noticed that they all looked very similar, or was it just him who didn’t know how to tell apart one Malboro from another. At least the one he was looking for was particularly small.
