Description For Charlott-A's Mesozoic Island

Scutellosaurus lawleri is an early thyreophoran or armored herbivorous dinosaur. It was a small 1.2 meter long omnivore that lived some 196 million years ago in what is now Arizona in the USA. This small dinosaur is fast and nimble, but it is notorious for having rows of osteoderms on its back that serve as a formidable defense against any predator that might try and catch it. It has a huge tail, it can use as a whip-like weapon. This dinosaur likes to be active in the moments with less light, like the dawn and dusk, to avoid detection, and favours the secluded shade of the forest. Our sanctuary provides the shelter and the food it needs. Scutellosaurus feathered coat is patchy and mostly concentrated in its front part. It is a creature that lives in small groups, in pairs or even alone, to avoid detection. They eat fungi, ferns, horsetails, cycad fronds and small animals it finds in the forest floor.
