Description

Updated version of my earlier Serbia map that includes regional flags, a somewhat better layout, the Adriatic Sea as well as only the Serb-held part of the Brčko District actually being part of this Serb state (The earlier version had the entire district, which also included some rural areas held by ARBiH rather than VRS forces in 1995)

And yes, I am aware that the flag that I used for Republika Srpska is the flag of Serbian Krajina (RSK), however I wanted some variety since RS uses a simple Serbian tricolor that is identical to the flag used for Serbia itself in this map. I also kept some municipalities that IRL are part of both Belgrade (Grocka, Obrenovac, Barajevo, Sopot, Mladenovac and Lazarevac) and East Sarajevo (Pale and Sokolac) independent, since they are suburban rather than urban municipalities.

Please note that this map is not intended to be any form of political statement but was merely made to showcase an alternate history scenario (This warning is especially important because this is a Balkan country).

PoD: Early 1990's

LORE: Slobodan Milošević is far more successful in securing a outcome to the Bosnian War more favorable to the Serbs, allowing Republika Srpska, which also includes Brčko,
to join the rump Federal Republic of Yugoslavia, albeit the war in Croatia still ends in a utter Serb defeat as in OTL, with many Croatian Serb refugees pouring into FR Yugoslavia. Milošević's regime would encourage these Serb refugees to settle in Kosovo in order to strengthen Belgrade's control over the mostly Albanian region.

After an alternate Kosovo War(Butterflies, along with a more aggressive Russia, manage to keep NATO from bombing Serbia) that results in Serbian forces utterly crushing the KLA, Milošević reorganizes the rump 'Yugoslavia' into the Federal Republic of Serbia, in order to both more openly express the explicitly Serb character of this state and to at least outwardedly appear to restore the autonomy of Kosovo and Vojvodina that had been revoked shortly before the Yugoslav Wars, establishing the six regions of Serbia, Montenegro, Vojvodina, Kosovo and Metohija, Romanija and Krajina (Republika Srpska had been renamed to properly distinguish it from Serbia itself) as well as a capital district encompassing Belgrade, that are de jure similar to Serbia's OTL autonomous provinces. However in practice, they remain under the full control of the central government in Belgrade.
Milošević would also slightly reshuffle his cabinet, naming Republika Srpska's former president Radovan Karadžić as President of the National Assembly, Montenegro's Momir Bulatović as Prime Minister while Milošević himself would be President of the Federal Republic.

The Bulldozer Revolution of 2000 is also avoided, due to the victory in Kosovo and the annexation of Republika Srpska making Milošević even more popular than before, leading Serbia to become one of Moscow's closest allies, becoming one of the founding members of CSTO along with Russia and Belarus. This would however lead to Serbia being even more isolated in the region, with Milošević himself being accused of masterminding the Yugoslav Wars as well as actively sheltering war criminals responsible for massacres in Croatia, Bosnia and Kosovo from the grasp of international authorities.
