Description
Okay, so I wanted to practice realistic people and I came across *INVADERBLU 's ID. And then I went so far as to be a creep and ask if I could draw her for practice. XD So here it is and hopefully it's not too terrible. (I was actually pleased with how it came out, for the most part. I'll admit I got a bit lazy on the shading.

Okay, here we go with a more full critque... well, at least an attempt. xD;;
Not too bad. A bit cartoonish, though, in the way you've outlined everything. Unless you intended it that way, then it looks awesome! (:
The body is great, I must say.
And the clothes are great too. You haven't put in every single detail, and I don't blame you, but you've put in all the necessary ones and it looks great.
Her face shape in your picture is slightly smaller and has higher cheekbones, and her neck is also slightly too thin. In the original photo, the side on of her face is quite long and her cheekbones aren't too prominent, but your picture makes her look very princess-like, and that's pretty.
Also, the way you've drawn her lips and eyes makes it look as though she has make up on.
The hand playing the guitar is a bit too small, and possibly slightly too thin, but her other arm/hand is done well.
The shading in all could've been done a little bit better, especially on her face and nose in particular, but the guitar was well drawn. It's difficult to draw objects, I find, and especially if they have a perfect circle in them. xD;;
All in all, I really like this. The picture itself is drawn well, even if does have flaws. But then again, what picture doesn't, y'know?
She also reminds me of someone, but I don't know who. xD;;

Yeah, I noticed it wasn't all that...realistic. Not completely anyway, like it was a cross between realistic and anime styles. I think I sort of intended it like that, but I also wanted it to be a close enough resemblance to the picture itself. Thank you. ^^
Yeah, I decided while I was doing the details that I wasn't going to do them all, only enough to make it look detailed enough, you could say.
Ah, okay. I noticed her face in my drawing was a little different, but I figured it looked good anyway and kept the general shape, so I left it. XD Thank you. ^^
She did have eye make up on, though I think her lips were just pink in the photo anyway.
Hmm...I guess you're right about the hand, though it might look that way because I tried to make it look like she was strumming the guitar, so it'd be blurry. I thought that arm was too thin too, but I didn't want to take the chance of fixing it and ruining the picture.
Yeah, I thought the shading was also pretty awful. Like I said, I got really lazy with it and tried to only put in the major parts where it'd be noticed if I missed them. The guitar? Really? I thought it looked pretty bad, though I agree, drawing objects is quite hard. That's why I stick to people. XD I think they're more tolerant of mistake-making. XD

It was a general face shape, but not her actual face. xD; Though, she still looks completely human and not deformed at all.
Did she? xD; I didn't notice that. But I kind of meant... like, heavy eyeliner or something. The lips in your picture were a bit too dark... like, they're a similar colour to her skirt, so looking at your picture, I imagined her to have very red lipstick on.
Oh, that makes sense! A lot of the time, it works better if the picture is kept completely still, if you get what I mean? Because blurry is hard to do, and people can understand the action even without needing to portray it in motion. Well, usually. Unless you're so dumb that you think she just sits there doing nothing in that pose... but who thinks that? xD;;

I know what you mean. I had some trouble with the left side of her face, like the length of it. But if looked about right at this point so I left it.
Yeah. The main reason it was darker when I drew it was because I kept outlining to get the shape right and erasing to make it lighter would've made it quite a bit worse. XD The lips...I redid those so many times, I nearly thought about erasing her whole face and leaving it. Because it looked good that way while I was drawing. XD
Yeah, I get what you mean. I just wanted to try and draw in the motion and see how it came out, if it looked like she was strumming or just like her hand was hairy or something. I think my aim was really just to come as close as possible to how the picture looked, even if it wasn't exact. Like get the general proportions right and everything. Well, some people do sit there just in that position...I haven't seen one, but you never know. XD
Exactly, I do that all the time. Especially when there's black shading on black. That's just annoying. XD With anime, I'll put in every detail, but with people...there's just too much for me.

Haha, yeah? I couldn't be bothered to put in detail with manga, it just fails for me. Whereas with people, I prefer to, because you can do anything with shading, and it doesn't have to be accurate, but it looks really good as it is.

Maybe...
I like to put detail in manga because it makes it look a lot better, but at the same time, it's not as necessary as if you were drawing a real person. That's what I like about realisism, though, that you can screw up and no one really notices quite as much. Probably because real people have flaws whereas manga characters are generally a sort of perfection, I guess you could say? I mean, they have imperfections, but they don't change as much in appearance so you can pass off a mistake as a simple change or something.

It's amazing. I wish I could draw realistic looking people. But the closest decency (however you spell that) that I can ever do is something along the lines of stick figures.

Y'know, I'm not really too sure on that one. XD I think I might've erased a couple of smudges, but most of the shading was just me rubbing the drawing with my fingertips and hoping it blended a little better that way. XD But I think it's mostly that I start in a certain spot, like since I'm right-handed, usually I start with the head/hair and work my way down and right. And I make sure not to shade too much until I'm done with all the lineart and details.

Haha, that's...sort of what I do, except I try to conform at least a little to how it's supposed to look. XD Having an imaginary area where the light's coming from helps though.
