It was time for another "darker" drawing after all the realistic pencil and charcoal work lately.There's a lot of symbolic in this one but I won't tell too much about it this time and let you form your own thoughts.
I wanted her to be in the style of Broken Doll from last year, with the light hair against the red make up and pale skin. [link]
I did this over a week as I didn't have much time to draw lately. Worked such a long time on her hair.

I've always loved that picture of her and have used it before, in my She's Blue drawing.

Have you tried using some different paper? I find that some paper is horible to work on with pastels. I prefer the smoother less grainy type for pastels. Maybe that will help?

This is simply stunning. I love the fair skin, light hair, baby blue eyes, yet the contrasting red makeup and bold hair ornaments! She looks like she's very deep in thought, like she's gazing at something offscreen--maybe out a window, or longing for a certain somone. It's very bittersweet. I'm favoriting this. <3
