Here is an Armada Mini-con. Many of TFfan know this mold as Knockout but for me, the colors were horrible. Happyly, it was re-edited in a "night attack" pattern and then named Broadside . I really prefer this last one.Beside, I really like this toy and it's the only reason I bought the pack (they are sold by team of three). I always liked the bots with the front of the vehicule as chest. It's a "traditionnal" transformation sheme that always remember me the first Diaclone toys.
And this out of proportions canon is really impressive. it's not believable for a real life vehicule but with those minibots, it works just fine.
So I choose to base my drawing on that . I did my best to show the backward jerk when he fires that almost knok him over. Hope it works
.It will be inked soon. But don't know when I'll have time to color it (cloring is so long to do :$ less intuitive).
Edit : I finally colored it after sooooo much time !!!!

Your lineart is sooo good...I wouldn't have the paitence to pull something like this off.
I like how the transformer is digging his heels into the ground as the cannon is fired. The human pluging his ears adds to the picture. You can almost hear the BOOM, ya know...

That gun looks like it's got some serious kick-back!!!
You can almost feel and hear the noise of the missiles exploding into action!
Wicked drawing. I think I'm going to do a trad painting of a Transformer soon. God there's so much I wanna do! I think I'm gunna do an extreme closeup of either: Megatron's face all beaten up, or Soundwave. He was always one of my faves in the 80's.

yeah mate. I wanna make Megatron look properly beaten up, rusty, wires hanging out, maybe he's lost an eye, and instead of a tear there could be an oil drip, etc etc!
I think I've just decided what I'm gunna do.

somehow both names don't fit the guy...he doesn't have a broad side and though he packs quite a punch, he doesn't have any weight on his fists

Guess I'm in a minority then - I preferred the team's original colours over the Night Attack deco.
Doesn't stop this being a typically awesome piece, of course!

Actually, what I don't like in the first deco was that they employed red next tan. It just doesn't work for me. If they used dark blue grey instead, it'd be better. In fact, I'm thinking about doing a second version with this color sheme.
Beside, they've done so much worst that the first one isn't that bad

I agree. I like TF for the scale thing. They are drawn too much without worrying about that. So they looks like toys. And not like giant freaking robots

WOW. I hated Armada, but I always liked the bizarre designs of the minicons for some reason.
Don't listen to GS about the character name. He told me that he has dibbs on "Soundwave" too.

There is a US military missile launcher called the Javelin. It has a 'back-blast' just like Broadside. I know this because at work, I had to animate a soldier firing one for the Army. Anytime there are back-blast projectile launchers, the user feels very little or no kick whatsoever. Thats the way it was designed.
You made the blast feel very powerful, but in the short-run... its really not necessary. Oh... and I learned about the back-clast last month, so dont feel bad.
As a footnote, I named a custom character called Back-blast... I've got dibbs on his name first

And I agree with the whole 'traditional' transform - it's ingenious the way they're pulling them off now...especially with the sizes, but it's not the same - it doesn't really translate all that well any more.
