Description THERAPY PIECE!!!

Broken my body

Teareth my soul...

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
My emotions have been scattered lately, and this was a perfect way for me to let it out.
I'm not completely happy with the composition, but hey, it wasn't meant to be anything spectacular. I feel better, and you can enjoy the artwork. We all benefit.

SYMBOLISM: The figure is tearing away from his body the false self of his ego. It is total darkness, made of fear, but only the idea of fear. Fear can damage the body over time (the scratch marks) but it can never touch the soul. the soul remains pure. The stylized fire symbolizes purification of the body.
-----
Question:What separates the body from the soul?
Answer: the Ego

That's my belief. It's hard to see the truth. Now is the time in my life when I'm starting to look deeper into situations and trust in my instincts more instead of reasoning and factual information. We get so caught up in our heads that we forget to listen to our hearts, or souls.

Enjoy this picture! Thank you for the comments ~Amanda

Mediums used: HB 2B 4B pencils, micron pens on 185 lb cold press acrylic paper. Photoshop for hue saturation.

In this world we live in today, it is wonderfully pleasant to see someone be deep once in a while. I am sitting here babysitting, at 7 in the morning, a two year old who never stays still. He throws fits, and yet, your piece just made my day. ^_______^ Usually you would say thank you for the comment, but I am beating you to the punch: Thank you for making this peice!

^^
Thank you very much!
I do tend to go deep-there has to be a meaning behind what I draw or paint or sculpt
I'm glad this piece could be helpful for you! I love to inspire others!

:3 no problem. I know what you mean, actually I have been in quite a slump about my art lately because it wasn't deep enough. I've been doing doodles and cartoons, and I felt like it was wasted. That is why I am moving more out of my area of art right now. ^_____^

I used to be into manga/anime style works, but I've decided to move away from them. It's fun to discover more about your own style. Good luck!

You can really pull off some strong emotions with the use of color

Color can manipulate emotions. Just look at how the advertising industry uses it in packaging and adverts.

Like McDonalds-they use lots of reds and yellows-which scientists have found out actually DO have and effect on appetite. I always get hungry just by looking at the fries container!

Both versions are beautiful and both have something. This one is probably more intense because of the red color.

Aikya In reply to DasTenna [2008-05-30 17:31:30 +0000 UTC]

I thought red would help intensify it a bit-and form more of a contrast between his body and the black blood. I'm glad you like both though! Gray tones are good for understanding value

I absolutely love the symbolism in this; it's drawn wonderfully! Great work

Aikya In reply to Lumaris [2008-05-30 17:37:27 +0000 UTC]

Isn't symbolism fun? You can come up with so many things in your mind, just by thinking about something. You might get a glimpse of hands or a broken feather, and then you go from there. Emotions can bring out the worst or best in a person, and I'm trying to create instead of destroy with them.

Lumaris In reply to Aikya [2008-05-30 20:22:57 +0000 UTC]

I wuv symbolism :3 I try to use it a lot, because it adds that much more meaning to a picture. ^^

Sometimes people put little stories with their artwork-I LOVE THAT! Then you can understand what they were trying to communicate to the view.

Lumaris In reply to Aikya [2008-06-02 04:13:13 +0000 UTC]

I do that when I draw/paint a scene from my book ^_^. I love it too - it adds so much more to a drawing/painting!

Wow. Your emotional art really stands out.The scratches extending into the red/browny color really gives the idea of what your trying to portray in the picture

Thanks girl!
I've noticed that emotions are one of the most powerful parts of a work of art-if you can FEEL when you SEE, then you can close your eyes and hold that image-or connection-inside of yourself for a moment. You become apart of the picture.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

blueicedragonau In reply to Aikya [2008-06-13 05:02:26 +0000 UTC]

Yeah i know what you mean. That picture i did a while back 'A light so far away' i was so depressed when i drew that but i had the picture stuck in my head and yeah. What you said about the connection thing. A part of your emotion settles into the picture.
