Description Watercolors, 44 x 25 cm.

This is a painting based on a old German saga called Lohengrin.

In this image you see Lohengrin riding a small boat pulled by a friendly swan, who offerd to do this job. (so no animals were harmed in this story )
In the story the boat is not described precisely, so I added some details myself
Lohengrin is described to carry a golden horn at his belt and a shield painted with the image of a dove. He is the son of Parcival and lives with his father in Monsalvat, the castle of the Grail Kingdom, from where he comes to stand in for a falsely accused maid in a Gods Judge.

The boat looks suspiciously like the paddleboats you can hire on some lakes. Also, isn't he supposed to come up a river instead of over the sea, or is that only in the opera?

Besides, this looks excellent. The waves are really impressive.

Thank you!Β

I'd say those paddleboats look suspiciously like my painting. Β
And yes, in the end he came up on that river, yet he set out from Montsalvat which is said to be far away. So chances are good that he had to cross some sea to come to that river finally

I've never been on one of those, but I've got the irresistible urge to hire one and blast Lohengrin while I dash across some random lake.

Sounds rather impracticable. If I were him, and assuming Montsalvat is in Catalonia, I'd ride north to the BiscayneΒ coast, take a trading ship from Santager or Bilbao or so to Flanders, ride until I get to the river Scheldt, get out my trusty friend Swan and ride non-stop to rescue Lady Elsa. Or, dunno, just let God carry me all the way.

Would love to see you on that boat...

I would take the boat pulled by a swan, guess that's faster (and more elegant) than to ride anywhere

Good to see Lohengrin that doesn't look like metrosexual sucker according to DA fashion. At the other hand I miss some nobility in his appearance. But the water, swans, sky - great job.

This is an excellent painting. I am surprised of your ability to make dense with watercolors. I also cannot see any problems concerning the realism of the scene.

As a window to the German saga, it creates a sturdy port to the tensions arisen in the adventure. If any attempts are needed to remind the old written epics, then this painting can be easily used to accomplish it - to show the true glory of the tales.

Ich freue mich auf das Ergebnis des Heldes.
