Trolls are pack-hunting critters, and though comically rotund in appearance, able to take down creatures many times their size, especially if they're the dumbest things alive.
They're also really fun to draw.
Flying Troll is my favorite.

Oh there a book series that was written by Ricky Gervais and illustrated by Rob Steen. It's full of made-up weird creatures with there own little description below the picture, and sometimes they have groups of flanimals attacking a big flanimal a bit like in your picture here. Just though it looked similar.

Hmmm... actually, Internet trolls bear rather a lot of resemblance to Hyenas: they hunt in large packs, have a high success rate, tend to be female-dominated, and both genders have dicks.
(Ok, technically, what females hyenas have are enlarged clitorises, but they mate and give birth through them, and use them to dominate the males in the pack)

The Hyena's "laugh" is actually the noise they make when they're frightened, but yes, I see the trolls doing that too.
