... Secretly, I think this page is why I started drawing this. Or half of why, at least.Kairi catches so much crap for that one line, it's ridiculous. So many people seem not to bother considering WHY she might have said it, or how in KH2 she's clearly long past that kind of sentiment towards him, they just get mad at her because "she's mean to Riku!!" and proclaim her an evil bitch, like that's the only possible option.
Thus, my effort to explain how, hey, maybe she actually had a reason for that and is not actually a bad person, so it's really not necessary to flay her alive over it.
(Yeah, it comes back to character-bashing in the end. That really does bother me.)
On an art note, I do not know what happened with the first two panels there. I swear they were so much more consistent with each other when I sketched them out. Meh. At least they came out okay.
And man, was that swirly darkness fun. 8D

i always figured the line was because of their age, and as a way to shoe-in that Kairi leans more toward Sora, at least romantically. when she said it, all three of them were just on the brink of puberty, so it's no surprise that she was getting new and confusing feelings that make her blurt out things like that. XDD
i've already read all of the comic so far, but i'm reading it again. it's highly enjoyable, and i only WISH i could draw like that. ^^

That's an interesting way of looking at it. XD For me, though, it really fits with a general pattern of Riku being creepy/Kairi being really uncomfortable around him (talk to Selphie long enough and she'll talk about Riku staring out to sea; also, pay attention to Kairi's odd reaction when Riku credits her for his plan to leave the islands), so that's the explanation that works best for me.
I swear I'll get back to this thing someday. For reals.

I agree with you! ^^ Because of a simple line people call her a well ya know >.> But i also think it's because they're jealous that she get's to hang out with them O.o Mainly cuz there jealous of her and because she said "let's take the raft and go, just the two of us!" I agree. People automatically proclaim Kairi's a big bitch because she asked Sora if he wanted to leave with the raft alone together. I was never the bigest Kairi lover (in fact she was the butt of many horrible RPing jokes), but I have a lot of sympathy for her being one of the most hated characters in history of RPGs. So thank you for your lovely, no great artwork and storyline. PS. Sorry for the lengthy comment compared to the one above me.

I like the Kairi that's in KHII much more because she actually kicks some bootie. The stereotypical princess female protagonist is just so...boring to me, and I think that's why Kairi was so irritating in the first game.
