And weep that you're not voting for Conrad.

Biscuit for teh win. Oh, my freaking God, I am tired. -_-; Didn't get it finished by 9 pm. That were me deadline. It's not exactly a ... uh... set in stone deadline. It was just a personal one so that I could get it to the copy place before close. I did not. So sad. Frick.
Anyway, Conrad and Ana from "the Pictorial Adventures of J.P. Conrad". I may die now. Yup.
Er... and, no, Conrad isn't huge. Ana is 14. She doesn't quite look it here.

This is a parody repro of an Alphonse Mucha painting called "Flirt". Flirt was a biscuit ad. You can view it here: [link]
The copy that I worked from was larger and I had another copy that was smaller that I used for the color template.

AmberStoneArt In reply to HugoLuc [2008-09-03 03:35:00 +0000 UTC]

Heh. ^^ Aye. This was less of an "inspired" pic than a repro with the characters from my comic in it instead. The original is called, "Flirt" and it was a biscuit ad. That's why this one is called "Biscuit."

This takes me back, we have an old storybook with illustrations of a similar style (and cats in fancy clothes at a ball or something).

Sandman1899 [2008-07-05 05:47:42 +0000 UTC]

I do like this. We have an ancient storybook around here and there are some cats wearing clothes. This seems right in the style of those illustrators.

This really is a beautiful piece. Sorry it's taken me so long to comment on it :<.

First off, I love the way you draw your cat faces! (and all your animal faces, actually.) They're realistic and yet still have a lot of facial expression like a human would. And Conrad's suit gives me little fits of joy. It is so lovely!

The girl looks really nice as well, although it seems to me that she would kind of be falling over in that position unless she had a cane of some sorts. But that might just be her skirts poofing out and her back isn't really that arched. Which brings me to the fact that that the detail and coloring in that dress is just wonderful. And her face is very pretty, too! it matches her dress perfectly. And I love her hairstyle.

I also can't get over now unbearably gorgeously detailed that background is. I wish I could do backgrounds like that. I try so hard, but I just can't do it. Oh, well. Practice, practice, practice! right?

But Back to the background. those lily-like flowers coming in front (I suppose that counts as the foreground xD) are lovely, and add a nice touch to the picture. As does the "Mystery" welded into the iron working in the backdrop. Oh, and I love the font you used for the lettering! is that a hand drawn font? It's very smooth if it is. I could never accomplish something as smooth as that!

But...yes! this is a most impressive picture that deserves a fave from me!

Thank you for your very long reply. ^^ I need to put this in the description, but here is the pic I based it off of: [link]
This is kind of a parody of the Mucha painting. He should get the credit for the background, colors, etc. And, it is just the dress that's all puffed out like that. ^^ They used to wear them like that back in the early 1900s.
The font only looks smooth because it's small.... It was done by hand but it's very wobbly in reality. Thank you, though.
And thank you for your animal comments. ^^ I like to draw them. ^^

sorry it's taken so long to reply. I've been very busy!

It's a very cool parody, still! that's a really nice painting.
Heheh. I know what you mean. It's really hard to do straight lines when inking. Sometimes I'll be inking, and there's so much tension in my hand it'll start shaking. It's very annoying :/
