At the time of submission in late 2006, it was the first new material I had submitted for a long time; I'd gotten my hands on a camera again, momentarily. This particular image was taken whilst driving home from the IKEA in Gateshead, earlier that evening. That place taints me a little each time I inflict the journey upon myself; I don't yet drive, so on the way back I had plenty of time to stew over the evening's proceedings. It culminated with my pointing the camera at the passenger-side window and repeatedly hitting the capture button. This was one of the results.

There have been various versions of this piece; from visual poetry to short animations, but I've generally returned to the image. Perhaps I'll provide external links to the varying versions at some point in time, but that's something for another update. However, the written piece 42.

You've just inspired me to use another medium...
But... later... i'm too drunk atm for that.
Favourite for sure.

That's cool.

Glad you like what I am trying.
No doubt you'll have a go and come out with something significantly more accomplished, but hey!

Anyway, yes, this is what I am going to be doing with future work -- I'll be sure to throw any deviations at you that I think are a technical improvement on what you see here, when (or if) the time comes.

The favourite-listing is appreciated, for sure.

Tuksha In reply to arctoa [2006-11-07 04:53:18 +0000 UTC]

Haha, i doubt it very much.
I can hardly take pictures or write poetry, let alone combine the two.

SanguineAthena In reply to arctoa [2006-11-03 23:15:18 +0000 UTC]

Hah. Never mind that last bit, that was the most coherent thing I could think of to say directly before I went spastic, hah. Massive sudden realisation and I thought things were all bad. But I was way off, so no I didn't see what you were doing. Yay and joy.

Beowolfe03 [2006-10-28 04:44:45 +0000 UTC]

Oh, the animation is sheer brilliance!
So dynamic, and it keeps the viewer involved in both the literature and the image. This is the greatest aspect of it, I think. You've made the text become part of the picture instead of mere copy beneath it.
And so original, too.

Of course, outside the medium, the picture and the poem was very nice as well! Good job!

arctoa In reply to Beowolfe03 [2006-11-01 22:44:42 +0000 UTC]

Thankyou. I'm glad it is seen as a step forward. Hopefully there'll be more updates to come before I am finished with this piece. I'm going to work on some of the others before long, too. I've a new computer coming so that should be of great use to me. H'rah for the promiise applications that will (probably) not crash when one goes to save one's work!

This is just stunning. I love the layout you're using - your photography combined with your words equals something masterful (:

And I googled a bianary translator, because I'm impatient like that.

Heheh, yeah, translators. It's simple enough once translated. Rather coarse, but true enough for many people. Unfortunately.

LaughingAstarael In reply to arctoa [2006-09-30 15:53:30 +0000 UTC]

No problem. It's a really lovely style you're put this in.

Yeah, they're fun :3. And it really does rin true for enough of the people around us to not make it seem gratuitous - rather, it's the people themselves that are.

MarinaCascade [2006-09-26 13:08:08 +0000 UTC]

oooh, binary in poetry...I've never since that before. What a cool concept!

I like this style -- it make me look at the poem and the photo a lot closer then I would have if they were apart.

Very nice

Would you mind noting me the binary?

arctoa In reply to MarinaCascade [2006-09-28 05:50:00 +0000 UTC]

Heh. It's a style that I'm going to be expanding and experimenting with s'more at some point in the neat future, I think.

I'm glad that they worked together. Thankyou.
