So I though i would post what my latest project is. TA DA!:3It is no where near done but this costume has been quite a learning experience thus far. I have found what I can do with what I know and new techniques to do other things.
My first time doing my own pattern and I am proud. It is all made out of bed sheets(the colors of my bedroom were the same so of course I had to <3 her) Kept the price down. Uh yeah. I hope you all enjoy as much as I do. You will see more in the future.

The designs were painted on with acrylic paint. The faded black was fabric dye, painted on and washed, then blended into the hood with black acrylic. I hope that answered your question. n_n

Aw. i think wanting to improve things is good. I Like the difference in all the Midna's though. You did some awesome stuff. Hope you don't mind me comming to you for advice on some things.

How did you get the two-tone on the inside of the cape? I couln'd figure that out...

Yeah it was an experiment that worked. I used fabric dye and painted it on half with a brush. Trying not to use so much on the edges where the black and blue meet(dilute the dye with water). Rinsed the black part(so excess dye wouldn't color the blue when washed) out then washed. It came out more of a gray. Then I used acrilic black(fabric paint should last longer, I am using that for the back cloak design) to darken the inside of the hood and fade into the gray using lighter strokes with less paint. n_n

I'm sure. The black an white is so striking(I guess mix that with the happiness of it being finished). Gotta be proud though. I am always inspire by peoples costumes. Gives me motivation to keep going.

Now there is a good example of a Midna cloak! I've seen many and none so far have had the detail on the inside of the cloak - excellent work!

No problem! Well it certainly shows, nothing looks half done.
LOL, I'm still having problems with my pattern, but I think it's because I cut the fabric wrong, so it hangs funny in places.
I'm going to try and get a progress shot up tonight or tomorrow, with the cloak, and some close up shots of the headpieces I've been carving out of Sculpey.
We will totally be Midna twins of DOOOOM!

Thats too bad. I can't wait to see though. Its going to be amazing either way. My firend is coming over tomorrow to work on her costume and I am goig to start painting the back*dreads*. Does Michaels have fabric paint. never shopped for that kind of thing there...

Ok, the paints I bought from Michaels is the Folk Art brand. I bought Winter White, Turquoise, and Berry Wine. Then you also buy this stuff by the same company called "Textile Medium". It comes in a bigger bottle, and you'll be mixing that with the acrylic paints. That way, they bond to the fabric better, and they won't flake off.

Thats good to know. I have been just using acrylic, cause that is what my friend uses for everything. It works ok but I rather be safer. Thanks for the help.
