Description Ah yes, the "Italian Stug", the Semovente DA 75/18! Designed in 1941 it was armed with the Obice da 75/18 modello 34, the exact same gun as the stationary Howitzer of the same name, and had great anti-tank abilities(this same howitzer was sold off to Portugal and Peru in the late 1930s).

It had a lot going for it like it's low profile and 2 inches of Frontal Armor! compared to other Italian tanks that's over an inch more than the M14/41-m13/40 and way more than the L3/33(.47 inches of frontal armor). Now, let me stress this, it wasn't actually meant to be a tank destroyer when it was first designed(similar to the stug) it just happened to be more than capable of knocking out other tanks of the time.

Sadly these little machines had some serious strikes against them.
The SPA 15 T M41 V8 diesel engine wasn't really that reliable or fast, a horribly cramped interior, still relatively weak armor, and the biggest nail in the coffin? Ammo capacity. The Semovente could at most, carry around 50 shells. Most Semoventes carried 30-45. This meant that supply vehicles always had to be in a reachable distance, and all of you can see the recipe for chaos right there alone.

Sadly the DA 75/18 didn't get the service record the  L3/33 did(which I want to draw again). Most of them fought in North Africa, and a few in Sicily (depicted here)

Only 262 were built, but there were 100s more of upgraded versions like the Da 75/34 and DA 105/25, but these like the P26/40 came in too late to be used much by the Italian Army itself making it the classic case of too little too late. The Germans would be the ones to carry out their use and production after 1943. So overall ,I'll rate the Semovente DA 75/18 a 7/10🙂, and one of the best Italian AFVs of the war. Also, would you guys be interested in a cartoony ww2 coloring book? (And I am working on a Comic, but it won't be presentable anytime in the near future)

Very well done,  when I was in the army  there was one still working in the barracks.
Are you sure that German Army provided any Panzerbüchse 39 to Italian Army?
I just know  it provided about 800  Maroszek wz.35, while our ordnance antitank rifle was the Swiss
Solothurn S.18/1000.   During the invasion of Sicily the Pzb 39 were just used as powerful anti-tank grenade launcher in the shortened barrel version, never mind, after all our tank hadn't any pasta logo written on the plate

It's-a me! Somovente! (Proceeds to nuke every Crusader Mk. III in sight.) Awesome work!

I think a cartoony ww2 coloring book would be pretty awesome. When I was little, I loved anything ww2 related and loved to draw stuff I saw in the ww2 history books I read. If you were marketing the coloring book as a sort of history for kids thing, I know I'd beg my parents to buy it for me if I was still five. Heck, I'm still a kid at heart, I'd buy it anyway!

There is a lot of cold war stuff(aswell a WW1) in there, you may be mistaking cold war drawings as WW2 drawings.

So, just like the Zrinyi II?

Also, why are Italian soldiers carrying a Panzerbüchse 39?

Arjay-the-Lionheart In reply to CapturedJoe [2019-04-21 15:30:15 +0000 UTC]

yes, but more similar to the Stug, less obsolete and entering the war earlier.

From what I could find Italian troops in Sicily had a mixture of German and Italian weapons, So one being armed with a PZB39 isnt too unlikley

I wouldn't call the Zrinyi "obsolete", just too little too late.

The Panzerbuchse.😁
7.92x94mm Patronen single shot.
1210 meters per second. 300 meter effective range.
Awesome!!

Better than the Brits Boys rifle. More range and bit more penetration.
I’ve shot the Boys .55 and the Lahti L39 20mm.
The Lahti nearly dislocated my shoulder but damn it was a hoot to pull some trigger time
