Description

Name: Daybreak

Nicknames: Day, Daze, D-bee (a dorky nickname only by Flash Flood)

Parents: Twilight Sparkle, Flash Sentry

Age: 15

Residence: Ponyville

Bio:

Since her mother is a princess, Day always got dragged around on trips and meetings to Canterlot and the Crystal Empire ever since she was a very young filly, so she became quite used to helping with princess duties as well as sleeping in hotels and moving all the time. She called the meetings “boring” but had a strong interest in following in her mother’s footsteps and becoming a Princess of Friendship. Because she would always follow Twilight along on her trips, she was not close with many of her friends in Ponyville, and would rarely even see her own brother, Crashing Comet. Although she used to be a lot closer to Twilight, she started to become more interested in other things going on in Ponyville, such as hanging out with friends and also working out. This was sorta after she began realizing that it was more likely that Comet would take Twilight’s role. She felt betrayed and made her new goal to be the first mare to be Captain of the Royal Guard, like Flash Sentry. Although she still greatly respects and looks up to Twilight, she never lets her know and instead becomes more and more distant, which is upsetting to her mother because they don’t communicate as well anymore. She always used to have a lot of fun roughhousing with her father as a kid and would play like a tomboy, but she was also a crybaby and would get upset easily. She still gets upset and emotional very easily, but because of the tough and stern front she puts up to everypony, most of her friends have no idea how much she overthinks what they say. The most that she and Twilight have in common is how strictly organized and on schedule they both are; Day can get very finicky about time and if anypony is even 5 minutes late for a meetup, she might give them the silent treatment for a while.

Relationships:

She and Twilight used to be extremely close when she was a filly, but after Twilight began staying in Canterlot with Comet, she decided to live on her own in Ponyville. Because their personalities are seemingly opposite and Twilight is always very busy with princess duties in Canterlot, their relationship became distant and it became difficult to spend quality time. However, they both don’t realize that they actually have a lot in common -- Day is every bit as overachieving, stubborn, and strong-willed as Twilight ever was, but her headstrong attitude and seriousness makes her a lot less approachable than her mother.

Day and Comet’s relationship also changed a lot over the years -- when they were both small they got along well, but Day started becoming interested in princess duties and then the royal guard, and Comet started going to magic school in Canterlot when he was about 10. Daybreak is (still) a bit unsure of how to relate with Comet. She feels a little awkward around him, which makes sense since they saw each other less and less frequently as they were growing up. Also, Day struggles a lot with feeling inferior and weak compared to her alicorn brother because she is a pegasus. They don’t really fight a lot though given that Day tries to look mature and serious to get Comet’s respect, and Comet is very patient and forgiving when Day loses her cool. It took a while for them to understand each other, but even though they don’t always see eye to eye, Day and Comet do share a lot of warm bro-sis moments.

Day’s first (and best) friend in Ponyville is Confetti Cupcake. She would never admit it to Confetti, but she really enjoys how easily she can let her guard down around her and talk freely. She somehow doesn’t feel the need to keep up a front around Connie, which Connie understands but never points it out. Even when she would be away in Canterlot, she would write Connie letters and send pictures of the scenery because she knows how much Connie wants to travel. Sometimes Connie can get a little pushy about getting Day into social events and talking with ponies, but Day trusts that she will have fun with whatever Connie wants to do. Most of the time.

Since she used to spend most of her time in Canterlot, Day is very well acquainted with the royal guards and royalty. Prince Chivalry was her biggest role model; he was strong, brave, determined, and very patient - actually a lot like her big brother, but of course she doesn’t see it this way. He was her mentor and she wanted to be just like him when she grew up, so she was one of the hardest hit of the group by his passing. She continued to train with his team as an honorary member as often as she could, but since she is a mare and still young, it is hard for her to keep up but this only makes her more determined. She doesn’t quite know what to make of Princess Lucidia. She’s a little too aloof and mysterious for Day to feel completely comfortable, and she always feels like Lucidia is messing with her when really Lulu is just trying to be friendly.

She and Flash Flood get along really well in a competitive sort of way. They’re always challenging each other and racing each other through the skies, and even though she’s basically half his size, she’s a very talented flier. She likes that he’s a stallion she can hang around without feeling awkward, and that he doesn’t seem to care when she is messy and training. At the same time, his constant joking and rowdiness irritates Day and she always tells him how annoying he is.

Cinnamon Roll and Honeyglow invited Day to help on the farm exactly once, and she started visiting to help out at least once a week because bucking apples is great strength training, and she also likes hanging out with Cinnamon Roll. Out of the stallions, he’s probably the one that she’s closest to because of his honest, easygoing nature which balances Day’s uptight and serious disposition. He knows what a hardworking and determined mare Day is because she often overworks to exhaustion, but he worries a lot about her health like a mother hen, which annoys Day to no end.

Diamond Iris is another one of Day’s role models, and she really sees her as a cool older sister figure. She wishes she could breathe fire and be as bold and reckless as her, although Iris isn't the best role model. Like most ponies, she’s secretly a little afraid of what Iris is capable of, and is careful not to provoke her. Iris doesn’t seem to be aware of this though.

Day honestly doesn’t hang out with the other kids younger than herself. The exception would be Pom, who she games with sort of often, if not regularly. Day is the type to take out rage and energy on either her workouts or games. She and Pom don’t talk a lot, mostly because of Pom, but they have an understanding with each other.

Cutie Mark/Special Abilities: Day’s cutie mark is a bright red sun with a swirl indicating power and explosiveness. Day is a powerful flyer naturally, and her regular training with guards and on the farm with Cinnamon Roll are really adding to her strength. Her dream is to be in the Royal Guard, and maybe have a commanding position one day.

thank you so much! yep yep, I really love my characters and Daybreak is one who I can sorta-kinda relate to a lot, so it wasn't too hard for me to get into her head haha. Some characters that I've made are a lot harder for me to write for bc I honestly am so different from them, but I try bc I like telling stories, and you can't do that unless you rly understand your characters right?
