Description i tried using bright colors as shadows inlike how i normally would use browns or black. worked decently well. i was going to paint in a background but i cant find my watercolor brush.

also, i tried creating her own outfit, id usually just find a reference but here i styled her own my own, and damn it was hard

feel free to comment or criticize haha

EDIT: I just found my waterbrush so i immediately went ahead and painted a background in. i also change the coloration by a bit

this is probably the first time drawing a background that isnt a single flat color haha, first time painting in an actual environment
in case anyone wanted to see what it looked like before the bg was added--> sta.sh/01cj4knrc29l the colors are a bit darker because bad lighting and stuff

Hello from project comment

This is a great piece love background like someone else said if you where going for a realistic piece could have used lil detail but really don't over worry on that because the colors make up for that part of it. the girl looks really smart not just because of the glasses but something in her facial and body expression seems very outdoorsy and sharp the red hair goes wonderfully with the backdrop of Fall leaves don't get a lot of fall where I am from so its very enchanting to me.

Colors like I said are awesome like how you used the yellows to make it crisp sunlight feeling come to life the greens and blues and yellows where the color of the dawn he he. so one thing I can see here is that the girls nose eyes are slightly off center really no biggy but in the future you might thing of drawing a strait cross trough the face as a way to map where the features go know that it is way harder with paint so no sweat also it is hard to make out her age is hard to tell could just be me but the face seems younger then the body like I said prob just be so don't feud over it. The figures attire really fits the setting a long hike trough a nature trail make me want to go camping right now.

Please do keep working with colors you are very good at it love the style and the tones so pretty I think you did a very good job with this scene the trees sky just everything works very well together.

So there is my opinion everyone has a deferent one so take it with a grain of salt I myself and still working on building my art getting better all the time but it is a slow hair ripping process.
Peace

Heya! Thanks for taking the time to comment
you are right about most things, but uhm everything in her face is off center if you look at it actually, and thats because shes facing slightly towards her left.

Thanks for the feedback, it is very appreciated

I must say that your color selection is pretty great. The proportions used to create the female character seems pretty good. I love how the entire artworks looks and feels but definitely you can improve more as you have good skills. Now, I'll talk about things, I believe, you can improve in your artwork. The background is pretty good; colorful, all the elements in the background are recognizable but it needs depth! Depth can make your artwork more realistic and believable.

I would suggest you to look into the topics of DEPTH/PERSPECTIVE and adding details to your work will also greatly impact your artwork. The background looks a bit flat, once you have the concept of 'Perspective' you would be able to solve this.

Other than that, If you are opting for colored pencils then you have great deal of control and you can provide some awesome details to the focus of your artwork which in this case, is the girl. For example, you could have made her eyes green because that goes really well with her hair color i.e. orangish red.

Which brings me to the last point, I suggest you to learn about 'Color Theory'. It allows you to make powerful color selections for your artwork.

I hope I was able to help you understand the possibilities of making your work even better.

Cheers.

Yeah I'm really not good with backgrounds yet haha i am trying to learn more about perspective though and it is REALLY difficult.
Now about color theory, the reason why this colorscheme doesnt work as great was because i had worked on finishing her first and only added the background in as an afterthought like a day later. so i guess if you look at her alone, she has a very decent color scheme around her, but yknow i didnt think of letting the background tie into the color scheme as well haha, my bad.

Thanks for the feedback, it was definitely helpful

It's good to know that you have already grasped the concept of perspective n color scheming. I am also very happy to know that my feedback was helpful.

Good luck <3
