Fast and dangerous, Bandit Raptors are turkey-sized cousins to the man-sized common Raptor. Bandit Raptors are swift and intelligent creatures that are infamous for attacking travelers and caravans.
A Bandit Raptor is usually alone, but are known to live packs of up to 5-10 individuals which makes them feared by many who travel through deserts. Inhabitants of deserts, such as Desert elves and bandits, have them as pets and also use them to spot out targets either man, beast or monster.
Unlike their scaly cousins, Bandit Raptors have patches of feathers for controlling their body heat and stability. If a person is attacked by a lone Bandit Raptor protect your neck and face, as they will go straight for weak points. Defending against a Bandit Raptor is simple, get a cloth, cover their eyes and pin them down as this calms them down along with putting them to sleep. Another way is to grab any shiny object, like jewelry or gems and toss it far from yourself, they love shiny things and are easily distracted by them.
Desert elves call them “Laaba Avabi” meaning, Thief Chicken, as they taste like chicken.
