Sorry I forgot to add this to my previous comment. Hopefully my 2 babies will be published someday too. I know...I know, but after working on illustrating & writing 2 children's books (The 1st one took me a WHOLE year & 3 months to finish, while the 2nd one took me 2 months & 2 weeks to finish. I'm done with the 10 illustrations, but the story needs to be redone.) for so long they are like your babies.

This is quite a unique take on a retelling of a Japanese legend. I love how fluid and life-like it looks with the watercolor. I've done 2 children's books myself, so I know how MUCH HARD WORK it is, but keep at it since it'll be totally worth it in the end.

That's beautiful! It really does look like something out of the books I read when I was little. :33
I think my favourite part of the illustration [except for the lucid colours] is the composition. The page design looks really professional, and I love that the text draws the eye to the background instead of just having the viewer focus on the foreground.
I'm not familiar with this tale, but I do love the kid's design, regardless.
