Very nice!
I think you can draw a front view version of this, to show how wide the cheek bones are, I'm very curious.

I've found that your PokΓ©mon skeletons are quite impressive and helpful. However, since I'm not all that familiar with skeletons, I'm a bit confused as it why Lucario's muzzle is noticably longer compared to the the skeleton portion. Would you mind explaining?

Hm, do you mean that the bone doesn't reach all the way to the end of the nose? Most mammal skeletons are like that; the end of the muzzle is the nose, and made of cartilage just like the ears.

Yeah, that's exactly what I meant. Thanks for answering that, too. I guess wasn't very clear about that. D:

Well, I'm no expert, but from what I've seen of dog skulls (and most mammal skulls) the little hole behind the cheekbone is labeled the external auditory meatus, so I assume it's where the sound enters the skull.

Oh, ok! I took Anatomy class before, but I forgot most of the terms. You're very close to expert, though! x3

Sorry, I'm just doing one more comment on this: What do you suppose his head attachments are(the black dreadlock like appendages)? Like, are they a solid muscle? Or are they some type of organ?

Chibi-Pika In reply to ChildofAura [2010-11-13 06:25:46 +0000 UTC]
I see the Aura sensors as a type of organ sort of like any other sensory organ. In this case, they're a tight bundle of nerves that can read the energy comprising his surroundings, or "aura", just as eyes read light waves. I expect there must be some amount of muscle in there to raise them, though.

That does make sense... though it might take some strong muscle to raise them...

Do you Study Anatomy? Because this is AMAZING!!! I like the additions you gave to the skull similar to a canine's, Especially the canals at the back of the skull for the Aura sensor nerve endings. If I could give an opinion, if you could do a front as well as a side view of the skeleton for your next picture?

Now it's starting to look more like that of a canine.

Huh. Interesting. I see that you've extended his upper jaw past his lower, and given him no upper incisors. Does he nip off pieces of food (I'm assuming meat) with his cheek teeth? Or does he have a dental pad like ruminants do?

Well, it's pretty awesome! Looks like a real Lucario skull! And don't worry that you butchered your first design, practice makes perfect, dude. Good luck with redoing the skeleton!
