Thanks! I tried to make it seem like a real place as much as I could. Sociology and economy are things I tried to think about.

This isn't actually Flyspur. They are actually similar in age. Rover meets Flyspur when he is sent to a Jssfloon school.
The story is in the description. This is an older Jssfloon named Soorn. But he does resemble Flyspur a bit so I understand your confusion.

Most of Rover's stories are pretty chipper. But his past is not.

Yep. Cheerful is pretty much his fallback emotion.

Yes. For such a peppy, happy-go-lucky guy Rover does have a pretty traumatic past. It's probably a good thing he dosent remember it.......I wonder if he would be so chipper if he remembered all that has happened to him.

Ahhh well he is that kinda guy who's pretty upbeat no matter what's going on!

You did well in balancing them. It's easy to pick out, Rover has his eyes with her color, mostly his jaw, her nose, kinda both/neither of their mouths, halfway between both their cheek areas, etc. Nicely done!
Yeah, poor Rover. Though, wonder what his life would be like if he did remember them, and/or the other things.
I've kinda done faces some before. They're very fidgety, realistic or toony. Because we're so familiar with seeing faces, that the human eye instantly picks up on inconsistencies. I think my biggest concern is making a character look the same—defining their features, and knowing how to draw those same features—from all perspective and in all expressions, not having them look different and unrecognizable each time I draw them. Keeping it consistent.

Oh dear! Poor Rover, he looks so limp and lifeless….but thank goodness he's alive!!! And seeing him with that massive wound where his left arm used to be is heart-breaking ;~;
And I don't think you need a mature filter for this. Believe me, I've seen things more graphic than this o.o;;

It was pretty confusing and disorienting. But he was a pretty brave kid. And his little disc drive and hat told him, if not where he came from at least who he was supposed to be.
He's a pretty good guy and like most Jssfloon a quick thinker. And he didn't just drop him off at the medical facility and leave it at that. Since he was the one that found him he feels a bit responsible for Rover.

Awww, that would really explain his strong relationship with his western idols and, overall, humans…or whatever he has left of them.
Ahh, I figured he was the one who would be looking after him.

chill13 In reply to LabelPerginu [2015-01-18 00:17:48 +0000 UTC]
Exactly.
On Jssfloon children are all-important, so there are no such things as orphanages. Rover's case is a bit unusual because there is no home planet or family they can contact for him. Soorn was quick to volunteer to look after him.

I don't think there should be a 'mature' filter. At the very least, I think preteens can handle this okay.
Anyway, what a story! I really hope Rover at least gets to learn whatever might've happened to his parents...

I'm glad you think so. I wasn't sure. Because there admittedly I quite a bit of blood here.
Rover hopes so too. He doesn't really know anything about them. He only vaguely suspects that had parents. He must have. Most humans do after all. He has kind of given up trying to remember, though.

chill13 In reply to HeroOfHeartJill [2015-01-17 07:08:51 +0000 UTC]
Surely he has at one time. But Rover has no memories before this crash. So for all intents and purposes, no. As far as he can recall he has never met another human.
It eats at him now and then. But not often. He doesn't let it keep him down. It just motivates him. There's got to be humans out there somewhere and he plan's to find them.

Now this seems like some kind of version of Tarzan's story XD Space Tarzan. Raised by aliens, and doesn't remember any other human being in his life, lol.

Yeah, at first, the 'finding the capsule bit' seemed like Superman, but more thinking directed me more 'Nah, it's Tarzan' XD
Either way, I still love your characters and your world. I almost wish I could be a part of it somehow, lol.

I'm glad of that.

Usually the most compelling and emotionally realistic characters have something major in their backstory. Heroes rarely come from a nice, normal upbringing.
