This is a reaction against all the professional illustrations of Enjolras that seem to ride roughshod over everything Hugo categorically wrote about his appearance. Really...is angelically beautiful that hard to grasp? Also wanted to do the youthfulness that Hugo mentions - the childlike appearance.
The long hair is thanks to the efforts of MmeBahorel, Marianne, Marguerite and MmeJavert!

I think you really showed the "illustrat0rs," a prime example that this fandom is full of wonderful, intelligent people. Enjolras =/= Ken doll, as he's far superior than that piece of gym, tanned, and laundried chunk of kakkatastic plastic. Oh symbolism, how you never fail, most of the time, at least. XDDD

This is the one! I'll have to look up that swedish model, as I'm always looking for useful models (coff...yeah, that's what I'm doing...).
I do get amused over the Enjolras illustrations. I like the ones where he sort of looks like a pirate or bandito...and then there's the *facial hair* in some. Totally ignoring what Gavroche says to him!

I think even Enjzaki by knight is closer to L'Hugomaster's image than the ones you described.

Amen! He looks like such an old, overly masculine geezer in all of the illustrations. Thank goodness fans have a better grasp on his image.
I agree that I like his hair a tad shorter, but this is still amazing. Gorgeous.

I'm a bit confused, βcause something is irritating me. He looks great, but somehow as he was dressed up and styled by someone else against his will.
But here he has the hear als long, as he always has in my drawings and my minde.

I do sometimes dabble in the long haired version...I sort of see him shorter haired, as I can't imagine him as one of the more extreme Romantics, but the explanation that Marguerite and MmeBahorel (that he can't be bothered cutting his hair/forgets it) works as well!

I did go over the pencil with photoshop...don't know if I should put it in digital art or not? What's the protocol? Most of mine are mixed in some way or another...have never done a digital painting, I usually use it to tidy up my messy work.

He really looks so much like a girl! And the look on his face is utterly pensive. I imagine if he was going to walk out on the street now, he'd draw a lot of stares.
Although I personally prefer Enjolras with slightly shorter hair, he's still entrancing here.

Feminine and pensive - goody! I was aiming for the latent sadness Hugo described. I'll do another shorter haired version soon...have had a flash of inspiration.
