The Attached Grenade Launcher - Standard was designed for use with the STORM 2 assault rifle (pictured) and later the STORM 3.

The weapon was initially developed and manufactured by the Manufacture d'armes de Gaetan plant in France under Earth Union contract. By late in the Interwar Period, the design was produced by numerous companies including Mars Corporation and Protective Solutions LLC to meet the massive demands of the Earth Union military.

The launcher was designed to use 40mm grenades that were common prior to Earth Union standardization, making ammunition plentiful and easy for Earth Union nation states to obtain. An unusual feature of the system was its ability to interface directly with the STORM 2's trigger, allowing the user to switch to the grenade launcher using the rifle's fire selector. The hardware necessary for this integration is visible on the AGL-S pictured in the upper right. Ultimately, this option saw limited deployment, as during trials soldiers would accidentally confuse the fire modes, sometimes with catastrophic results. When the selector integration was not used, the launcher could be fired using a thumb switch located on the left side. For aiming, an additional leaf sight was included that would bolt onto the left side of the rifle's upper-handguard. This sight is not visible in the above picture.

For connecting to a STORM 2, the lower hand guard of the rifle was removed and the launcher's front mounts were then locked into the back of the bayonet lug. The rear-portion of the launcher was then clamped directly onto the barrel. For integration with the fire selector, further steps were needed that were usually left to the armorers.
