This shot is very reminiscent of a cross between the second and third scenes of the old Thomas opening. Even the first two (three?) coaches look very much like Annie and Clarabel.

You would almost think that engine was an E2 from the angle.

Yes you would, and of course, both being LBSCR they came from the same stable. I hadn't thought about until you mentioned it, so thanks for the comment. Pity they never saved an E2.

That just gave me an idea. Do you think it would be possible to modify a spare E4 into a new E2? After all, they look alike. It can't be too hard.

E4: 0-6-2T
E2: 0-6-0T
The trailing wheels would have to be removed and the wheelbase centered or elongated for stability, because if the drivers were in the same spot, the rear end of the running board would be too long (like Ivor the Engine's). However, if the entire rear end of the engine itself were to be shortened until it reached the last driving axle, it would end up looking more like Reginald Payne/TV series Thomas than a real E2.

It's a great idea except there are no spare E4s! It would mean a new build - but easier than Tornado!

I'd start the campaign. But I don't have a Patreon. Also, I live in the states.

I wouldn't be surprised if someone over here hasn't already had the idea! Bad phraseology I know.

Well yes steam operations in the USA ended in the late 1950s / early 1960s and (had I been born in America) I would have seen it. Instead, I was born in the UK and saw the end of British steam.
