Description "The Chimera is the Imperial Guard's most commonly used armoured troop carrier. These ubiquitous vehicles are extremely durable and practical, capable of mounting an array of support weapons... Chimeras are a potent symbol of the might of the Imperial Guard and are fitted with a range of equipment, including searchlights to locate the enemy and massive bulldozer blades to clear a path for heavier battle tanks. With scanners and communication voxes, Chimeras are also suitable mobile bases of operations from which Imperial Guard officers can marshal their forces."

- Codex: Imperial Guard

The "Iron Wolf" is the secondary fighting vehicle of the XXIst Lynnari. It serves as a Mobile Command Vehicle for the Skyrangers' CO Colonel Dietrich Reichard. The interior of the "Iron Wolf" is cramped with auspex and vox equipment, and several crates of hand grenades in case Reichard decides to personally put the fear of God-Emperor in the enemy. The size of the compartment had several times led the Colonel to jokingly compare it with his quarters aboard the "Omnipresent" - he claims that he feels absolutely no difference.

The "Iron Wolf" is optimized to be an urban assault vehicle, equipped primarily with anti-infantry weaponry. Its hull-mounted heavy flamer, along with retro-fitted engineering equipment, are used to flush the hostiles out of cover. This is often followed by Reichard and his command squad coming out for "a spot of sparring practice".

The success of "Iron Wolf" in urban combat is leading Colonel Reichard to consider requesting several additional vehicles to equip the Skyrangers' assault platoons.

"Iron Wolf's" weapons loadout:
* Multi-laser (turret)
* Heavy Flamer (front hull)
* Heavy Stubber (commander cupola)
* Dozer Blade

I'm less satisfied with how this vehicle came out. Not that it's a complete failure, but it somehow doesn't fit in with the rest of the army. The paint just doesn't look like it came down right, the drybrushing is a bit excessive and out of place, and the 'ardcoat spray gave the turret a matte texture that I just don't like.

The name "Iron Wolf" comes from the legend of the founding of Vilnius , the capital of Lithuania. It is also the name for the Rapid Reaction Battallion of Lithuanian army. Lithuanian (and Baltic / Eastern Europe overall) culture had been an inspiration of a sort for Lynndor and the Skyrangers.

Color scheme: see "Hephaestus" .

Markings:
* Turret: "Lynnari / XXI Hvy Air / Col. Reichard" - Regiment designation and name of commanding officer.

Completed: way back. Assembly and painting: several hours. Acrylics on plastic, measures approx. 6''L x 3.5''W x 3.5''H. Model and quote from Codex: IG by Games Workshop.

Like the weathered effect on the hull, not sure about the sharp orange details.

Those are a subtle pun that I will explain later on.

I like the weathered effect on the hull. The orange looks a bit odd, mind you.

Generally Chimeras receive numbers, not names, but I applaud your efforts nonetheless. If you've as many Chimeras in your army as I do, you've got some naming to do!

Naming is likely not to be a problem. This particular vehicle is personalized to Reichard, so it is named. The rest will be numbered.

I have one armored Cadian-pattern, and want to get more (see notes on Hephaestus ). I'll post pics once I have a full platoon of them.
