Cool. Well, to give you credit, I immediately thouht of the Nebula class when I saw this even without reading your description, so well done there!

I think the nebula class was inspired in the TOS' Miranda Class.

Yeah, but in the series, we saw no such ships.

Low budget in those days...

Looks great Dave, nice to see what the TNG classes might have looked like in the TOS era. Have you got any more TOS versions of TNG classes in mind?

interesting design Dave, looks like you've followed just about everyone else who's ever modelled a connie - thats make a connie kit or connie lego set keep them coming not many people air theirs mine went direct to my graveyard.

davemetlesits In reply to karanua [2009-10-27 17:11:09 +0000 UTC]

I'm actually planning to release the "Connie Lego Set" so people can make their own TOS ships from the pre-fabbed modules.
There are the bigheads at the big sites (I won't name 'em, they have a tendency to find me afterward) who'd cut off my head just for kitbashing. When my site gets up and running, I'll tell everybody who downloads my stuff that he can do whatever he likes to do with them as long as they keep it non-profit.

Yeah I know who you mean. My ego I gave to Danny when he was learning to rip to pieces and get to know the setups. Its a good idea you have there Dave.

Very nice.
Though slightly ugly...in a nice way.
I mean it looks practical.
Human built, not so...sleek. But a nice design.

Yeah, she is a bit ugly, but so is the original Nebula and all kitbashes

dantrekfan48 [2009-10-27 00:26:52 +0000 UTC]

Looks kinda like Potemkin or Marco Polo-class.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

davemetlesits In reply to dantrekfan48 [2009-10-27 00:48:15 +0000 UTC]

It is influenced by the Marco Polo, but I disliked that the AWACS pod is attached to the saucer, so I moved it to the engineering hull to make it look more like the Nebula.

dantrekfan48 In reply to davemetlesits [2009-10-27 01:24:40 +0000 UTC]

I never really did like the Nebula-class anyway. Too compact looking, but when you adapt it to the the original series that's another story.

liiks more like an AWAC than a Nebula class
although, i can see how it's a Nebula

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

davemetlesits In reply to spartanjedi [2009-10-27 00:02:54 +0000 UTC]

The Nebula is the AWACS of Trek, so...

👍: 0 ⏩: 2

wingzero-01-custom In reply to davemetlesits [2009-10-27 00:53:15 +0000 UTC]

actually the nebula was intially designed as a recovery ship for galaxy class saucer sections which had lost it's stardrive, it later became a "AWACS" of star trek. though if we ever see the lunar class become canon outside of the books i think we'll find that the nebula has gone the way of the dodo sort a speak
