It's done. I can now die happy. Everyone, say hello to Mr. Face! He's a character who's been buzzin' around inside my head for a while, but I've only drawn him once before - and that's a picture of him as an old man! But here he is, for your enjoyment, younger, buffer, and sexier. Yay!

I gotta say, I really love this picture. I was playing around with all sorts of things in it. The first; symmetry. If you look through my gallery, you'll see that most every figure has their head tilted a bit to the side, even if their body is straight. I suck at facial symmetry. I can never get the eyes on the same line, or the nose straight, or something like that. But Face is rather easy to get right, since his eyes and most of his nose are hidden. The second thing; anatomy. Again, if you look through my gallery, there are very few 'ripped' or 'built' men. (I think Onix, Mickey, and Cel'cu are the only ones T_T) Most of my male characters are thin, with the slight beginnings of muscles. It's hard for me to draw really muscly guys for some reason. (That, and I think thin men are cuter) However, the muscles on Face turned out really good - I mean, really! You could grate cheese on those abs! *droooooool*

Thirdly! shading. I'm... okay with the shading on my paintings, but if I don't have lines, you can see every brush stroke I made, which I think is icky, and with lines, it looks too much like that junk I made when I first got the tablet. I was trying to go for something kind of like the shading on ~maXVolnutt 's Dialga (located here; [link] ), but not make the lines quite as noticeable. I think I did a good job. Fourth and final thing I worked on was highlights. I think the highlights in Snow Bungie Dave ([link] ) were okay, heading towards what I wanted, but they weren't nearly as shiney enough. Before I did any coloring on this piece, I carefully laid out where I wanted each and every highlight to go, what it's base color would be, and where it came from. I think it turned out really nice, with the three different sources. (The orbs in his hands, the lines at his feet, and the very soft light behind him)

As for the actual picture itself, I started out with the phrase 'Accept Your Digital High' - a phrase I just came up with while setting my profile on FireRed. I liked it so much, I wanted to connect it to something visual. I chose Mr. Face to affiliate it with, as he has a visor, which, ever since Star Trek, I have used as a symbol for Sci-Fi. The lines at his feet are supposed to be kind of like a computer chip, which, I admit, I sort of took from Tron. And just as a side note, I love the hair here. It just came out nicely. I'm thinking of making prints of this, if anyone is interested....

Mech pencil sketch, inked and colored in PS elements 3. About 5 hours total. (Though, the sad thing is, I spent about half an hour on 'angeliQue', and it got lots of love. I spent all that time on this piece, and I doubt anyone will see it. *siiiigh*)
