Description (2006) 4"x 3", delica beads (matte metallic moss green, amethyst iris, 14 karat white gold), Bali silver, amethyst beads, silver beads, nylon thread.

The second attempt at the same pattern as "Copperthorn". This time I used the reliably colorfast gold beads and I laced up the pattern with chains of threaded silver and amethyst for a snugger fit. I'm glad I could at least salvage the pattern, even if my first attempt bombed...

Thank you! I still remember the lightbulb moment during a T'Pau concert many years ago where she had some awesome deep forest-green and violet stage lighting and I just went into color overload rapture. It's not done often, but it's such a cool combination...

Interesting "lace" effect on top. Again... I love the color choices-

Mmmmm, silver and green... and purple too It's amazing how a simple change of colour schemes can change the feel of a pattern totally. This is sort of baroque (I think that's the term I'm looking for) whereas the other one felt more tribal and summery

Thank you, I have a few items posted in my etsy store (weblink off my main DA page), but mostly it's on a commission basis or as presents for friends. With the labor involved it's hard to find a fair price. I'm always open for requests, though.

ooo this is beautiful! I like this one better than "copperthorn" (Green and silver are my two favourite colours to use together! )
I also like the way you laced it together with the amethyst.

Thanks, I think the stronger contrast between the dark green and light silver brings out the details more sharply.

Ooo I *really* love this one I guess green and silver grabs the eye of every Slytherin girl The purple is beautiful too ^__^ I would love to wear this but I seem to have an allergic reaction to pretty much everything I put near my wrists

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Ellygator In reply to almaxaquotal [2006-07-07 13:29:48 +0000 UTC]

Yikes, sorry about the allergies! I guess glass beads without metal coatings may be the only thing you are actually safe with, as glass really does not react at all. Thanks for the comment, there certainly is a Slytherin vibe in the nice deep green!

and the closure is neat too.

Thank you! I can still remember when the violet/amethyst and green combo struck me right beween the eyes and I thought it was one very cool color combo: it was a T'Pau concert in Newcastle many years ago and she had an outfit and a lot of stage lighting in that combination. I thought it was so bold and so effective!

yoboseiyo In reply to Ellygator [2006-07-07 23:45:11 +0000 UTC]

indeed, very effective.

and the strike between the eyes?
that's exactly how mine works.
(*whap!* here's the colors, do something with 'em!)

GraceWillard [2006-07-07 01:17:35 +0000 UTC]

Actually I prefer this color scheme to the previous one. It has a much more subtle and delicate color balance (although it was a shame that one didn't turn out as planned).
It's a ver interesting design. I found this computer program called Kali off a math website that made patterns similar to this. [link] Its really cool and could be inspiring...it was for me

Thank you - me too! I would have loved for it to work. Thanks for the link, BTW, I had it in my favorites once but lost it during a hard-drive burn-out. It's great to have this brilliant program back! Only it seems in the meantime they ran an upgrade and I have to look at my java plug-ins in order to work it again. Again thanks for putting me back in touch with it. I got some wonderful tessellations off of it!

yummy colors. i'm loving the purple and green. (i guess it's slythern-y, but i just can't picture a slytherin in purple..) scaled down slightly thi would make an awesome choker.

Ellygator In reply to magpiesmiscellany [2006-07-07 16:19:27 +0000 UTC]

Thank you! I really like the rich green iris tone of these beads, like mossy velvet. I have to look into that whole choker thing more. I have made a few, would need to devise a clasp solution that has a bit of give so you can breathe while the thing stays in place.

Very nice. I personally am more for the other color scheme, but then, I have a thing for blue that is just scary. The pattern carried across brilliantly, though.

You do some seriously impressive work.
