Description And against all odds, badly equipped and poorly fed, the famed VC demonstrated how a strong willpower, combined with cleverness, tactics, a great knowledge of the terrain and, of course, supported by an urge for peace all around the world, can defeat even the most powerful of military oppressors.

This is just an attempt to show that they were just people too, just like the men they were fighting against.

The Vietcong, or VC, were a communist army and political organization formed from the communists of South Vietnam and Cambodia. They became famous for facing the US army - probably the most well equipped army in the world - with a really limited gear of their own. Despite the huge technological gap between forces, they caused terribly high casualties with their hit-and-run tactics, tunnel networks, surprise attacks, well-placed traps, an amazing capacity to move supplies and equipment through the forest with every transportation available (mostly bikes), and a unmatched knowledge of the local terrain. The VC suffered extremely heavy casualties, and were practically defeated at the Tet offensive, but their damage and legacy of merciless resistance against a foreign opressor left a scar on the US army and greatly contributed to the end of the war.

Thx men xD

Oh btw,the VC (South Vietnam People Liberation's Army) wasn't defeated at the Tet offensive xD.Most of their troop are withdraw in time, and in replace of the lost, they have Northern reinfrocement (in short, there is no NVA, every soldier after arrived in the South are practically a member of SVPLA), and some of the RVN troop which turned side (if you count the VN war from 1956-1975, there is over 300.000 RVN soldier deserted and switch sides, which was easy to understand, because the RVN troop are FORCED to join the army anyway xD)

And btw......again,their forest transportation are bicycles, not bikes (well there's no fuel in the forest either, unless they scarvenged it from fallen US vehicles and.........undetonated napalm bomb.....maybe)

And thanks again xD

Really interesting feedback man, thanks!

I meant that the VC as a group still existed, but their strenght diminished a lot, they had horrendous casualties, if I'm not mistaken. But I really didn't knew about the reinforcements and the turncoats!

About the bykes, I meant bicycles, got lost in translation!

cheers!

Well, I'm really glad that you feel this, zeraful! I saw now you are vietnamese. I'm brazilian, so I don't quite know for sure, but I would find quite sad that even today the NVA and the VC are treated as villains by the mainstream media and movies, as were the average germans, russians, North Koreans, and almost everyone who faced the US in a war. They deserved to be treated with the utmost respect for what they did which, for me, was a most amazing deed. But I believe more and more people are thinking like this, war is not black and white only.

Well, even if you said so (and it was true),most of the veterans are didn't care about it xD.First that they already have a huge load of problem of their own already xD(8-10 hurricane as strong as Katrina, flood, drought..........well VN was still an agriculture country, so those one are really quite a problem xD).And second, even if they don't said it, most of them don't talk much about the war simply because they don't want to hurt "someone"'s feeling.Sure that in the war, some of them did earn the title "Dลฉng sฤฉ diแป‡t Mแปน"(well that's something you got when you killed more than 20 US soldiers in ONE battle),but still, one died American equal a parent lost his son,a wife lost his husband,a son who never got a chance to see his father. They already know what those word mean, and they don't want to hurt anyone by it,they alone is enough already.

And besides, those Hollywood movies are paid by the US, made by the US to sell to the US, so it has to be what the US people want to see xD.
