Description
The StoryIt has been a long while since the fall of Idyll. The stories about this great nation have been forgotten and nobody knows what happened to the survivors of the war. Untill that one day...
The seven children of Idyll who survived the attack build their own nations in secret. Meanwhile, Aidan continued the attack on other nations. After 3 Eras of war, the seven nations were big enough to take on Aidan. Aidan would finally fell and a new Era of peace and harmony arrived...
The Making Of...
I decided to start of with a new style of abstract render type, combined with a bit of modeling (the rocks). After that was done I was quite amazed by the quality of it. I realy liked it and I had this vision in my head of how the final image would look. Well... It was something totally different from what it is now!
After I did some little lights on the render, I started brushing and I came up with some nice perspectives. I changed my plan and I decided to add spaceships to it. But there was the problem... I can't model! After about 3 hours of drawing and 6 hours of modeling these little fighters came out. I liked them and I decided to make some sort of battlefront. Then I decided to add a mothership to the piece and I started Cinema 4D again...
After aproximately 60 hours of Photoshop and Cinema 4D work this is what came out. I think the .psd file has around 400 layers and 30 sets. Maybe even more, I lost the count...
The Looks
Well I never worked on anything like this before so this is totally new for me. A huge amount of layers containing brushing, lighting, renders or colors. I think I don't have to say much more about the looks, just take a look yourselfe.
Final Words
This was never planned to become connected with Idyll's End. The story just floated in my mind today and I thought it fitted. Although the two pieces are totally different from eachother, I tried to connect them with eachother and I think I succeeded. Anyways, tell me what you think of it, I hope it was worth the waiting!

beautiful depth, imagination, creatures, colors...
powerfull piece, creativity to the top.
The spaceships and space "base" on the back are extremely detailled (how the fu...?).
Your cloudish brush is trully different but looks like real.
The render in the front is like "hell how did you do this?" and the colored pieces on it are amazing.
Extremly high fantasy piece, this brings everythings to the top, so i can affort this..

As you know, i think its a wonderful deviation.
The 'buildings' seem somewhat inspired by the ones in the game 'black and white', am i right?
This version is much lighter then the version you showed me, i think that is a good thing but maybe you made it a bit too light
I really like the lights on the 'tower' in the distance, but i think you made them just a bit too bright, it looks just a bit too much like pixel-art, wich it basicly is
i also see that you added a texture over the clouds, i like it but i think the texture is just a bit too obvious in some places
are the red aircrafts on the left enemys approaching?
all i can say, keep on doing stuff like this, you are really heading in the right direction

Hey man,
This is truly spectacular! The modelling is impressive and I'm inspired by your ability to fit such abstract modelling within sci-fi style, I've always found that very difficult! Also the lighting is spot on, the orange glows are perfect but what amazes me the most is the blue-purple haze around the main object.... wow. Finally the brushing is impressive although I find that for my own taste you have perhaps used slightly too much in the middle of the image.
I wish there was more like this on dA.

You where certainly right when you said i would like it 
Whats more amazing is the detail & subject matter, the texturing the perspective haze does not distract or leave a viewer completely bored either, its in a phase of fitting in, which is an often hard thing to do with things that arent meant to distract yet arent meant to be completelty undetailed. The lighting is also beautiful, i am most impressed with how it seems to actually reflect onto the hazed clouds, which shows you paid attention to lighting, a key factor in imagery.
Theres no need to continue on about technicals; everything seems perfected in my eyes. Instead ill move onto how i interpret your art, you really do convey many thoughts & idea's in my mind with this picture 
The fighting ships are like factions of life, the green, dark & blue ships are like the bad vs the good vs the neutral, elemental, one must fight the inner evils, the neutral may band together with either good or bad, & it does look this way, you inspire a whole sense of inner feelings, like this is more than just any war - this is a war that will reshape the whole face of the planet, & people must convey their own thoughts as to who may win.
I must heed the fact that you have inspired amany, i do urge you to keep up your style or whatever you want to do, you are most definitelty reaching your goals well!

and when I saw this I was like wow and clicked on full view immediately, surprised becuase something beautiful like this was waiting in my message box and I hated myself for not checking it earlier.
the general composition of this is amazing. everything's so balanced out and I love the utterly amazing war scene you created, and especially love for the details and the bottom left part. Stuned by the brushing and lighting, surprised at seeing the gorgeous render there. and shocked by the quality of this. The whole image looks so mystified (is that a word??!!) but dangerous and full of action. and every second I look at it, I feel I am involved in this war, everyone is, attracted, addicted.
I especially love the building/space ship thing on the upper right hand corner, the little dotted lights just looks so...strong and guiding, luminatoin in the dark like a lighthouse, it must be the base for some high tech species up there, while others looks at it and feel it's magnificence, at the same time, stunned.
Apart from all the goodness, I think you should re-consider the postition of the title. Maybe frame the piece and have the title on the bottom of the frame, or make it less aparent and stand out up there.
My final words: WHOAAAAAAAAA. This really makes my day for browsing, almost everyday, I find something that's really beautiful, but non as awesomen as this ever since a long long long time. <3
