Origin:
Richard was 1 of 7 test subjects for Maxwell Lord's hurricane project. The hurricane project was meant to inject experimental serums into human subjects that harnesses different elemental powers (Earth, Ice, Water, Fire, ect) in order to create a new army of elemental soldiers. The experiments were a success Lord eventually turned the test subjects into a criminal gang for hire know as The Global Disasters. Lord made Roberts the leader and gave him the codename Earthquake.
