Wow, late to the game with this. I enjoyed it, though I will admit because of the amount of crossed out lines I almost skipped over some stuff first read through, viz "showing" as my eyes were already on the right for tongue and it seemed like it was going to go straight to little.

I actually began a while back an odd project in which I took Gibran's The Prophet and decided to "blackout" and make it the most negative book I could, completely opposite of the original. But I stupidly attempted to paint () over the other words with black paint to leave only the words I wanted on it, which was completely tedious and a waste of my time. I think I made it like 8 pages before I was like, this is going to take FOREVER and gave up. Perhaps I'll try again, only not with paint, something much less time consuming.

Haha... well, hopefully I didn't put too much strain on your eyes!

I say revisit your project again, but use a big black marker instead!

agreed . I went to go look for the one I had started to make, but couldn't find it. I'll probably hunt some used book stores around here and see if they have it.

Okay, see, this one is funny. I get that. I just.

I wish the more subtly beautiful poems more often got the DDs. I think that "infirmity" and "the pastor's wife" are both superior to this one.

Still, it is funny. And clever. Bravo.

I love this. So many are leaving uninsightful comments, to which I say the following:

1. Read contemporary poetry. If you don't read published, contemporary poetry, you probably don't have a lot of grounds to critique contemporary poetry.
2. Found/blackout poetry is not about vandalism or derision toward the original artist. It's about making new from something old. Is collage art plagiarism? Is graffitti art? Vandalism and art are not mutually exclusive.
3. FUCK SHIT SARAH PALIN. Curse words can be expressive.
4. Don't flame the artist for getting a DD. Don't flame anyone, really. But if you need to express your distaste for this piece, talk to the GM who featured it.
5. I AM WATCHING YOU, AND I MAKE WORDS.

No prob. Controversy can be fun. I actually haven't had any mean comments on my most recent DD. I find it appalling.

Oh, I know... but I'm terrible about not replying. I'm awful! Hopefully it wasn't too bad on your DD? I felt bad sometimes when the ones I featured got flack.

Thanks for stopping by with a nice comment!
