One of the crazier scenes I've shot in quite a while, and certainly one I never expected to end up shooting this year Went storm chasing only to find out that I had left too late. The storm I was driving after began to die about 45 minutes before I could get to it. Luckily, I ran into a backup photo op... a sunflower field! Asked the land owner if it was okay to shoot their crops, fully expecting to meet a crusty old man and get turned away. That sure didn't end up being the case! Met a nice young woman who was more than happy to have me there (she actually thanked me for coming down from Omaha to visit their part of the state ). Left around sunset only to turn around and ask for one more go as a small cluster of thunderstorms popped up to the southwest. Lightning over a sunflower field wasn't a photo opportunity I was going to pass up. I set up in front of their field, and before too long, I got the shot I had envisioned! A highly successful day photographically, even if the "big storms" didn't pan out
