Description When this series first aired I was five years old, and from then on in I was hooked. After a few years it left our screens. I never saw the series again until I taped it when I was 16, and now I enjoy it even more!

This piece is based on scenes from about two thirds of the way through the first, and my fave series of the show, and was made with colour pencils, watercolours and digital colouring. If you're a fan of the show, you can probably see some resemblance.

This is perhaps my most paramount tribute to The Animals Of Farthing Wood so far, and I am delighted with it.

I had tapes of the first episodes of this series. I did not even know it was a series until a few years ago. For me, the Animals of Farthing Wood stopped when the animals arrived at the White Deer Park. Magnificent conclusion, moreover.

Nice picture. Isn't this the scene where they have just escaped the hunt, and are about to reach the motorway in episode 9?

I recently watched all three series again when I found them. I watched this show on a VHS tape around 14 years ago, and when the tape died I spent a lot of time since trying to find it. Watching these few episodes in this part of series 1, especially episode 8, was very tense.

Could I use this as the wallpaper on my computer please? I would love to be able to log in everyday on my personal machine and see this scene. Especially as this is not one of theΒ more sad scenes of the show.Β

I feel episode 9 with the hedgehogs is one of the saddest parts in series 1 myself. I am watching all 3 series through with my nine year old brother right now. Badger's death in series 2 really saddened both of us. This show never stops having a big emotional effect, however many time I watch it.

This cartoon was a master piece even though some parts did scared me or thraumatised me lot. -_- And there even scenes where I wondered what they were doing.

Great piece of art by the way!

The rural landscape of England is poetic from the following TV shows which I had watched -

Heartbeat
The Animals of Farthing Wood

I watched The Animals Of Farthing Wood on the ABC channel (Australian Broadcasting Corporation) at 8:00am every Sunday morning in the TV lounge of the student residence 18 years ago (during my Newcastle Technical College days in New South Wales).

I watched The Animals of Farthing Wood along with watching the following -

Heartbeat
The Ren and Stimpy Show
Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog (watched it every weekday morning)
Sonic the Hedgehog TV series (watched it every Saturday morning)
The X Files
Black Adder
Red Dwarf
The Brittais Empire - the show had one of the actors from Red Dwarf - Chris Barrie (as Arnold Rimmer); it was awesome; during my holiday leave from my Newcastle Technical College, I went to visit my family in the farmhouse in Gundy, New South Wales. When the intro to The Brittais Empire came on the TV in the TV lounge of the farmhouse, one of my brothers said, "Hey, everyone! Rimmer's on!" I came in, sat down and watched The Brittais Empire with my relatives. We all liked it.
Rage (music video show on the ABC channel) - watched the top ten music videos of 1994 at 7:30am before the ABC channel threw over to The Animals of Farthing Wood at 8:00am

The greatest memory of my watching The Animals of Farthing Wood 18 years ago was when I watched the episode when Fox, Vixen, Badger et al take shelter in a church from a rain storm that night and then they escape from the church the next morning in the middle of a wedding. I watched that episode before I went to the Newcastle Cathedral (Church of England in Australia) for the church service. I had coffee and biscuits when the service was over. It was awesome.

It was so badass I doubt you'd be able to get away with half the things in this day and age in a show for children that AOFW did.

Pfft, yeah right.

I have that taped "movie" myself, Journey Home, correct? my mom found the video during our own little "journey home" from visiting a grandparent a state away. I only knew the characters from that. its only recently I found the full episodes and seasons on Youtube. So much more to the show than I had originally thought...and its darn good too. so much better than the garbage excuse for kids television today...

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

FreyFox In reply to Wakerra [2010-04-20 12:57:51 +0000 UTC]

Yes, it was made into a video movie called "Journey Home" for the USA but a lot of scenes were cut and the voice actors were changed. In the UK, it was a fully fledged 13 episode TV series, each episode lasting 25 minutes. In addition, in the normal TV series Fox is voiced by Rupert Farley; in the Journey Home version he is voiced by Ralph Maccio

Wakerra In reply to FreyFox [2010-04-20 15:14:36 +0000 UTC]

I did notice a few voicial changes, mainly Fox, Weasel and Adder. Its no wonder I never saw the series on the air, I live in the US, never did get BBC. I finished watching the last of the episodes on Youtube, it was really good. though it was slightly tree-hugger, it was good all the same.

lol, come to think of it, I watched David the Gnome when I was young, now THAT was a tree-hugger show XD.
