Strolling down memory lane with this one
Back when I was really into the Godzilla fandom I was always fascinated by Gigan in particular, he was one of my favorite kaiju ever since I saw him beat the living CRAP out of Godzilla when I was a kid. The image of Gigan splitting big G's head open and spilling his blood always stuck with me. Well, as the movies advanced and Godzilla became stronger with each incarnation, I started to wonder what (if any) chance Gigan would have against him and decided he'd have none. I also started thinking more and more about the Nebulans who controlled Gigan and began to delve into them a little more. I created different classifications for the monsters they used, and began thinking that it would be a LOT more interesting ig Gigan was not a random creature that was built and/or modified, but a member of a larger race of creatures. Since Gigan was the first one of his kind I had seen I just started referring to the rest of the race as 'Gigans' or 'the gigan species'.So that's the backstory. Trajan I created as Gigan's older and much larger brother, part of a class of monster the Nebulans referred to as 'Planet Buster', because that's exactly what his job is; to destroy planets.

Would have been cool to see him in action, though the idea of an even larger Gigan is only cool until you realize Godzilla wouldn't even be able to fight it.

Glad you like him! I figure Godzilla's no stranger to larger opponents, being smaller didn't stop him from going toe-to-toe with Biollante, Ghidrah/Ghidorah, Destroyah, etc.

Wowza, I can't believe you remember that! That's awesome. The story was written, but I've had to edit a few things in it and remove some elements. I do still plan to put it out, I just need to figure out where I'm going to fit it into what I've been working on

Honestly, neither can I, it's probably because I was, and am, such a fan of your Godzilla stuff.
The idea that Gigan was of a larger species, with each member unique in appearance due to the Nebulan's tampering has always stuck with me, and has always been a point of conversation and argument among my friends. Well, my friends that are also G-fans, as you could guess.

I'm very glad to hear that! Inspiring some healthy debate is the best part of any fiction or franchise! I was hoping to tackle the Ghidorah/Ghidrah family as well, but things didn't quite work out. I loved seeing all the different branches of them throughout the Godzilla and Mothra series though, it never got tired. As for Gigan, seeing him show up in Final Wars brought a HUGE smile to my face, and it only got wider when he came back with Chainsaw hands! Even though that movie needed more monster action, I couldn't complain about the monster action we got

Great job! Gigan is a very powerful kaiju. I agree that he probably wouldn't do well against the Heisei era Godzilla(even though Gigan doesn't exist during that series). As for his Millenium incarnation, I have to wonder how he would do against G, since he only fought Godzilla in a team with Monster X. This guy does seem like a bigger Gigan, and shares a lot of qualities with Gigan too, I'm assuming. Creeating kaiju is always fun, and it looks like this guy was a lot of fun for you.

I would loved to have seen how the minds behind the Hesei series would have handled Gigan. I think I would rather have seen him upgraded instead of that version of MechaGodzilla.
In regards to Gigan's Millenium incarnation, he wasn't much of a match for Godzilla at all. Remember back to their first encounter when Godzilla is freed from the ice. He's just woken up and completely destroyed Gigan without a second thought. But then, he plowed through 10+ monsters in that film soI'm going to have to say *nobody* stood a chance of standing up to that particular Godzilla.

Yeah. That version of Mechagodzilla is good and all, but he didn't look enough like Godzilla. Seeing a Heisei Gi9gan would have been better. Hmm. You just gave me an idea.
lol Yeah. Gigan probably would have done much better against a different monster(just look at how he did with Mothra) but as put it, that Godzilla is the "Super Saiyan" of kaiju.

That sounds about right, I've always called Godzilla the 'Ryu' of monsters, in that he's the measuring stick as far how powerful a monster is or isn't. In the end, you know that for story purposes Ryu is *probably* going to win, but you know he's going to have a hell of a time fighting Bison versus say, Dan

this guy's really cool, i read bits and pieces of Trajan vs Godzilla and Trajan vs the Eliminators and from what i read they were both really cool, i also read some of the Gigan Species stories and everything of what it would have become and i have to say it would have been pretty cool, my two favorites you had created were easily Thresher and Semitar, they were just cool

You may find this hard to beleive, but I read those fanfics including Trajan a long time ago when the site was up. I remember his fight with Godzilla, which was awesome . There were also a few others concerning other Gigan based Kaju that you made up...It was a long time ago , so I can't remeber their names so well, but there was this other femalel character..I can't remeber her name, gig-something..she had metal wings with a peach membrane and spots..anyway, I won't say much more incase you ever decide to bring them back, but I was just dropping in to say that I remember those you wrote and enjoyed them and I'm sorry that they didn't continue on farther..maybe you will being them back, that would be real cool.
