Description Pyrography.
What can I say? I wanted to make an image that depicted Naruto infront of some kind of wall mural that featured his "inner demon".
After completing the image in my sketchbook, I decided that pyrography would be the best medium to bring out the archaic and ancient feel to the image.

As for the title- it was named by the Assistant of the Human Resources department of the Studio I work for. I put it in my art show, and forgot to label it- and she knew who it was.

I am asking $60 for this binder if anyone wants it. First come, first serve.
Face measure 10.5" X 11.75" not including "spine".
Binder is empty, but has the ring mechanism for putting notes, images, or whatever inside.

I have another 1 Binders like this ready to be commissioned into whatever image they want. Note me for commission quotes (quotes vary based on the high/low level of detail in image. Seen here, High detail).

Arrgh! After the long process of moving back to school, I get these lovely updates! This stuff is pure genius! If one wants to make an impressive portfolio, this is the way to go. Nobody and I mean NOBODY makes fanart as unique as you do.

I really appreciate that! But sadness- it does not qualify portfolio space. But it does do good for commissions!

YAY! you are all moved back! Can't wait to chat it up with you on MSN!

I am interested in this pyrography.

What are you using to actually burn the wood?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Gishkishenh In reply to XELOTEN-XELET [2007-08-17 06:09:55 +0000 UTC]

It is a pen that heats up to about 250 degrees. It has changeable heads (for style, thickness and cutting), but mostly unique to it is that is- like all the pyrography pens- has a radius around the neck to be a heat amplifier.. so you can't choke up on the pen like you would a normal utensil.

XELOTEN-XELET In reply to Gishkishenh [2007-08-17 15:56:49 +0000 UTC]

So where can I get one of these pens and how much do they cost? I guess I could look it up but I would rather bug you.

I heard about a place that does burning with lasers, I want to try that but I bet the equipment would be costly.

I got my Pen at the local art store (loomis and tools). I think you can get them online too. Simply called "wood burning pen", mine is the "Dremel VersaTip". Sometimes they don't even go under the title of "pyrography" or "woodburning", depending on the manufacturer and the store. (you can find them in the art stores, and sometimes hardware stores).

I really can't sya for sure... since I don't tend to work all in one sitting. This one must have been a few good hours because I was still testing out styles and techniques. but spot on time, I wouldn't know!

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Gishkishenh In reply to nekonotaishou [2007-08-16 01:38:28 +0000 UTC]

Ha ha! You just answered your own question in the best pun ever!
Pyrography- art of wood burning. You burn an image into wood!
So I hope that answers your "burning question".

nekonotaishou In reply to Gishkishenh [2007-08-16 01:51:30 +0000 UTC]

Wow... that's uncanny... but how do you manage the faded effect, like, say, on the fox's fur, by burning it? (this sounds interesting, I might want to take this up when I can )

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Gishkishenh In reply to nekonotaishou [2007-08-16 02:01:25 +0000 UTC]

It takes some practice, and a lot of maneuverability... because the metal heats up to about 250 degrees... so you have to be careful- you can't chock up on the head like you do with a pencil (i have me burns.. yarg!)... and basically learn to either do pointilization, or time how long you stay on the wood so it'll burn at different tones.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

nekonotaishou In reply to Gishkishenh [2007-08-19 18:11:29 +0000 UTC]

Whoa.... burns... youch... Still, sounds cool Where'd you learn to do that?

This is so awesome. I never thought of useing wood to make a binder like this o.o what sort of rings do you have on the inside? Like a normal three ring binger hoop? Or does it have some other sort of set up?
