Thanks everyone!! Yeah, I was honestly quite surprised at the outcome of this, since I really underestimated those markers...I thought right away when I started the gray background, and the marker was making streaks everywhere, that it would take away from the picture- but for some reason it dosen't quite bother me now...maybe its the contrast like mateem said?

I really like how you played out the lighting in this pic! The use of the markers gives the background a sense of roughness that contrasts nicely with the subject. It reminds me of the portraits that the old masters used to do of royalty.
