honda-vfr — VLA at sunset

Description I rode the VFR to the VLA the other evening to take a few shots. The VLA is a radio telescope on the Plains of San Augustin, NM.

the VLA has been in a few movies. 2010: Space Odyssey, and Contact. it is the largest radio telescope in the world.

thank you for the suggestion, i will try that. i did adjust the contrast a little to bring out a little detail in the shaded parts but stopped before i overcooked it. it is a tough contrast, the bright sky and the shaded areas, but i'll experiment with it and see what i can do. thanks again.

Yes this is a wide latitude of exposure to contain in one "straight" image. It requires "burning & dodging". It certainly is a photo worthy of the work

i've tried to attempt what you suggested, but my skills in post processing are limited. i'll work on that.

Very nicely done Hondo. A surreal look is must affective for the other worldliness of the subjects. When you do take photographs you do them quite well. I think here a slight burning in of the upper regions of the sky would be beneficial. My eye keeps straying up there because it is the lightest area of the image. Better to keep our eyes contained below with these wonderful objects so wonderfully composed with the leading lines of the tracks.
