Description I was bored at work and I have a new Nikon D7000 and was playing with the high ISO settings. i know the result is kind of noisy, but i was amazed by the detail of the Milky Way. i did not edit the shot, that is how it came off the camera.

A classic example of how far technology has come and how hard or perhaps how even the playing field is now. But the bottom line will always be subject matter. So far the camera makers haven't figured out that yet but I wouldn't be surprised that in the future that a little assistant wouldn't pop up in the viewfinder and suggest an alternate composition etc
Any hoot...this is a wonderful photograph and the noise just adds to it expression. Very well done Hondo
PS: What ISO was this shot at?

the ISO was 6400. i went through them all, up to 24,000 (or whatever the camera goes up to around there). this speed produced less noise. i was just experimenting, seeing what the camera could do. i don't know why this site didn't pick up all the camera/image info, it usually does.

the D7000 is like a sportscar compared to the D60, which is like a truck. or, LOL, the D7000 is more like a Canon!!!

i personally prefer Nikon, but the Canons are nice too. it is analogous to cars. some people prefer Ford, some Chevy. they both have their differences, but they do the same job.

But Nikon's, like Ford's, are built road tough
