Description
My part of 's project, the Deck of Cards collaboration. Some 54 artists came together, each to illustrate a single character who represents one card in the traditional deck of 52. If you had a number card, you also needed to incorporate that same number of symbols which represent your particular suit; the 10 of Clubs thus has, incorporated throughout the design, 10 symbols of the "club".It's not hard to find 'em all, but I took a little liberty with the "clubs". Feel free to ask if you get hung up on it.
This image was inked completely in Manga Studio EX, using a small, rough thumbnail as the only guide. Check my Scraps for a WIP version of this that includes the original thumbnail if you want to check that out. The final is approximately 5x7 at 600dpi, Greyscale (Manga Studio's native settings), with some minor adjustments and formatting done in Photoshop... totaly time, 'bout maybe 6 hours.

Oh man. You know what? This is fantastic. You know what else? I did the same deck of cards thing for Niko's, and I got 5 of clubs.
I've been turning her into a fighter, slowly, and I just came across this today. XD

I just recieved my deck in the mail a few days ago and this card is the only picture out of the other 53 with no color at all. I think the art is very very good but i was just wondering why you didnt color it. I looked for the original rules and i thought i remembered reading that all the entries were to be colored but it was so long ago i could have just been remembering it from some other kind of contest i guess. Anyway id like to know if you have time.

When I originally accepted the project, I was told the only colours were to be black, white and a certain red. Since I was doing a black-suit card I did it all in black and white. It wasn't until later that I found out people were doing full colours, and I just didn't have time to go back and add a color treatment (it's not something I excel at anyhow).
I feel a little bad for having one of the only monochrome cards in what ended up being a very colorful deck, but that's the way it ended up. Personally, I liked the idea of it being black/red/white only, but I guess I was in the minority on that.

I hope you dont mind this but i took the liberty of coloring this....im not that great but your inking is so smooth that it helps with the learning process.. I wont submit it to my gallery unless you say its ok....So just let me know. Peace!

That's amazing. What a cool project, very creative.
The shading style for this piece is awesome, it looks like Manga Studio is working well for you then, huh? I especially like the little details, like the rings on her fingers, loads of detail, that's incredible. Those pants are really creative too...connected like that. Great piece.

Oh, I forgot to say, her right forearm (our left hand side) feels a little too thick, almost manly to me. That's really the only off thing to me.

Hahah, wow that's great....love all the motifs of clubs on her clothing, from the gloves and pants to that neat little tattoo on her cheek. Plus how you incorporated the '10' onto her shirt as a logo...topped off by her bad-ass attitude.
