At long last, it's finally happening
I've gotten numerous requests to revive my long-dormant plans for a Wreck-It Ralph sequel fic. With Ralph Breaks the Internet falling miles short of my and so many other fans' expectations, I began seriously considering it. I still remembered the story outline and even a lot of the dialogue. Most of what I'd written for it, though, is locked away on my old broken computer, and I figured I couldn't get started until I got that fixed.
Then I thought "Screw it, I'll just rewrite the whole thing from memory."
And honestly, I'm glad I decided to, because it's given me the opportunity to better refine the story and tighten up some elements of it that I was struggling with six years ago. With those hurdles finally cleared, I've been on a creative roll, remaking the first four chapters in just a matter of days. This is my version of what a second Wreck-It Ralph movie could've been. And what's a movie without a poster? Ralph, Vanellope, Felix, and Calhoun are all zapping back into action, together, as a family, approximately one month from now. Brace yourselves for some serious wreckage

I just finished reading your story on Fanfiction.net, and it's MILES better than Ralph Breaks the Internet. That movie was just depressing and ruined Ralph's character. And it sidelined Felix and Calhoun for no f*cking reason. Your story included ALL the characters, explored new territories in a familiar way, and had a wonderful, exciting climax. And a little romance! I loved it! And it makes so much more sense for Vanellope to stay in Sugar Rush. How the f*ck does your most popular character go MISSING and NOBODY notices or cares? And wasn't Ralph leaving his game the problem in the first movie?

The underutilizaion of Fix-It Felix Jr. and Sgt. Callhoun was a great injustice from the second Wreck-It Ralph movie.
All the second movie was was something that should've been a non-Wreck It Ralph movie. It was more like Inside Out with its concepts of the internet and should've used it's own unique characters for another movie.
I think as well made as it was; the second Wreck-It Ralph movie had serious problems that cannot be overlooked. And the lack of Felix and Callhoun is one of them.
More power to you showing us what the second movie could've been.

It definitely feels like Ralph Breaks the Internet was originally a completely different script that was hastily altered to be a Wreck-It Ralph sequel. I can't say for sure if it's true, but given how many elements of the story make no sense within the world as it was established in the first movie, it'd sure explain a lot if it was.

Yeah I think they had a script for an Inside Out version that describes the internet and decided to throw Wreck It Ralph in there.
Yeah like Vanellope nearly going Turbo in Slaughter Race. So many rules broken in this film.
I think it inspired me enough to wanna write my own Wreck It Ralph sequel.

Man, you're still really hung up on "Ralph Breaks the Internet," aren't you? I don't blame you; all that hype and not much to get excited over. Why would it be built up that what Turbo did in the first movie was such a taboo - yet in the second one, Vanellope ditches her game, there's a loophole to where she can do so, and nobody complains? That was the one thing that bugged the hell out of me, personally.

I can't help it - I waited six years for this movie, I was convinced that it'd be as great as the first one because of all the returning creative team members, and then I left that theater feeling like I'd just paid for someone to punch me in the face. When I found out how many other fans felt let down too, I figured the least I could do was try to give them a decent sequel to make up for it.

I'm already wary about "Zootopia" getting not just one, but two sequels in the works - and you know how much I love that movie. At least "Frozen 2" looks to be pretty epic.

Frozen II does look pretty cool so far, but yeah, we're at the point now where I'm a little more cautious going into Disney sequels.
What blew my mind the most was that so many people who worked on the first Wreck-It Ralph came back for this one, and yet it felt so weird and off, like it was made by people who only had a vague passing familiarity with the first movie. My executive meddling senses are tingling.

As I've said before, I've been following your idea for a hypothetical WiR sequel for a while, and from what I've heard, it does sound more a natural progression of the themes of the first film, as well as expands the universe better than from I've heard of Ralph Breaks the Internet).
Speaking of, I'm sorry you didn't the film, as I can see why it might upset fans of the original. Though, even if I'm glad you acknowledged you were being a bit too harsh, and I know the first film meant a lot to you, I still think you should've handled your initial reaction to it a bit more calmly than you did. I hope you don't mind me saying that, because take it from someone like me, who's also had trouble with expressing their thoughts on certain topics I'm passionate about; it's okay to have strong opinions on certain things, but you need to keep some emotions under control, for your sake and the sake of friends who care about you. Again, I hope you don't mind me bringing this up.
Also, on a final note, after re-watching Toy Story 2, I'm actually getting some similar Toy Story 2-esque vibes from your story, especially with certain plot points (some shady collector stealing one of the characters, or in this case, an entire game, for profit, one of the protagonists being conflicted between wanting to last forever or being loyal to the people who play with them, and some other stuff which I won't give away).
Still, anyway, I'm looking forward to it, whenever the first chapters are posted.

I first conceived the idea for this fanfiction in 2013, years before Ralph Breaks the Internet was even announced, at a time when I never thought an official sequel would happen. Disney sequels were rare and usually reserved for well-established classics, and back then I didn't think Disney saw Wreck-It Ralph as enough of a cultural smash to ever receive another installment. (While I'm glad I was wrong, man, was I ever let down by the result...)
So let's just call this an alternate continuity. Maybe this would be Disney's 2019 tentpole release in the universe where they didn't cancel Gigantic

As it happens, some plot points are slightly similar - a surprise unplugging, an excursion onto the Internet - but the way I plan to execute them is very very different from what Ralph Breaks the Internet did. And I think my ending will be a little less divisive
