what do you use to pierce it, a flux shaft? That takes skill, I can't do more than attempt to write my name with that thing.

Hand gravers were used to cut the flame pattern into the silver

This is the third ring I've done with a flame pattern. I would have to say it blows the others away. It's nice when I can see my work improving This ring was based on [link]

Beautiful work!
Palladium? Does that have similar working properties to platinum? Why this metal over more traditional precious metals?

Great detailed picture. I know how hard it is to get a good picture of a ring

They wanted something similar to Flames of Chaos but thinner because he golfs all the time. Palladium has excellent wear properties and is comparable to platinum in many ways. With palladium I could go thinner and stronger in one shot.A very secure metal for stone setting and it's hypoallergenic This is a great metal I've worked with it few times and I LOVE IT

Do you use Oxy-acetylene with this metal?

LOL, it took me a minute to make the golfing connection. I couldn't figure out what it had to do with anything. My knowledge of the game is limited to the few times I have played, which was less hitting a ball and worrying about my hands and fingers and more just looking for a dang white ball in the weeds, LOL. So, Easter-egg hunting and golf are very similar in my mind.

Beautiful rings; I am certain that he will treasure it for a long time

Oxy-propane, acetylene is dirty flame and not recommended for platinum it will contaminate it, not sure if it works for palladium or not.

Oh, I was under the impression that the plat group of metals couldn't fire scale at all, since they drink up the hydrogen forming a barrier to mixing with oxygen & I was assuming that you'd need the extra kick of heat from the acetylene to work with the plats. Thanks, I always learn something new

You can't use a charcoal block for soldering either.

Maybe, when I hit the lottery I'll give it a try
I am just now getting a stock of gold where I feel comfortable using it as a predominate color in my work But, I admire what you're doing with it. Keep it up, beautiful stuff.
